a few fill in games? Maybe, but we are talking a number of games as in the hypothetical it was a long suspension and Baker filling in and playing well. I mean, if he had a great season in 2022 that makes 3 really good years out of the 4 he was healthy :noidea:

I happen to believe even a few really good games would help him but could see thinking it wouldn't help enough.
If Watson receives a long suspension then the Browns wouldn't be in a position to trade Mayfield - so it would be moot point. No QB on a short contract would have a trade market at the trade deadline because it would take the QB several weeks to adapt to the new team. From Mayfield's perspective he'd probably be happy with a long suspension for Watson. From the Browns perspective it would be a year of wasted resources.

If he doesn't play well it will be 3 years out of 5 that he hasn't played well, and given that he's likely to get the #3 QB reps with back-ups in camp the odds are that he won't play well if he's put in with the starters.

Damn right. There are more Browns fans that dislike BM than there are that like him.

Here's the way I breakdown that jackass in cleats four seasons in Cleveland. It started out with alotta promise. Then he had a sophomore slump, which I put more on Freddie than anyone else. His third year was damn good. And his fourth season was an injury riddled disaster. He should have never tried to play through all the injuries.

His attitude/ego is bigger than Cleveland Stadium. He wants the praise. But wants nothing to do with the ridicule that comes with being a former # 1 overall pick.

Did he fully live up to the expectations of being a # 1 pick? I gotta say absolutely not.

He belongs in the league there's no doubt about that. But without the Browns eating a large portion of that 18m contract no team will want him.
I agree with most of your opinions on him. I disagree he wants nothing to do with any ridicule. Hell, the guy often took the blame for things when not his fault. He held himself accountable for every loss that I can remember. sometimes for wins, as well.

agree with nearly all but your last comment. I mean, as a rookie he came into his first game with little to no reps with the 1s and led a comeback win down 14-0 when he entered the game.

Will say I could see a team trying to go places who lost their QB wanting to deal for him at or before the deadline. Hell, even better at that point as they'd owe him less money. a team like, say, Dallas or LV if they lost their QB?

Went from a jackass in cleats to a rapist in cleats, so congratulations?

should add he was surrounded mostly by guys who had gone 1-31 in their previous 2 seasons.
Which netted him so many top picks. Can't help your FO blew chuncks on many of them.

I completely agree with what you said. BM's a big time drama queen. But I don't agree with the very odd part where you tried to lump all Browns fans into the same category.

Why do so many people continue to think all Browns have fully supported BM?
I said most, not all.

Just look at this thread. Most not all avoid the question of how much his drama will affect the team going forward. It plays a huge roll in should the Browns keep him around. Quite possibly the biggest part.

Hey, I've always given Brown fans credit for supporting their team the way they do. But then I read some of their posts.

Right? The few Browns' forums I look at I would say the vast majority do not like Baker.
It has zero to do with liking him or not. It's your and some others ballwashing over the fact he is a drama queen and how that will effect the team going forward.

If the FO is as smart as you and others claim, they'll get rid of that cancer before it spreads.

Absolutely mind boggling people think the Browns won't get anything for Mayfield when Washington gave up 2....not 1, but 2 3rd rounders for Carson Wentz.

I'm a Browns fan that thinks keeping him around would be a major distraction.

The league needs to announce ASAP what Watson's suspension will be.

Like I've said before I find it very interesting that none, or very few of his teammates that I'm aware of, have defended BM in any way.

Keeping him around this season would be a bad idea.

That's cool if you believe that but not sure what that has to do with this discussion or your attempt to ridicule Baker.

You tried to imply that Baker was surrounded by a number of stars. You were wrong. As is the case with irrational people, it's not in you to simply own you were off base.

Sure seems like even most here think Baker wont be around and the team wont allow it.

I may be the only one who thinks he could be in camp. Care to try again?

Wow are you on a roll.....who here does not think he's a drama queen?

A cancer? Seems a bit over the top as the only players I have heard talk about him (not reports of what others think) seem to still keep in contact with the guy and like him (Chubb and Ward).

Ballwashing? I've made many critical comments of Baker and am glad we replaced him with watson. Just don't feel the need to make up things to suit an agenda. This was after the Jet game in 2020. He also took blame for the loss against the Steelers last year when Landry dropped 2 passes on the last drive.

“There is no excuse. Plain and simple, I failed this team. I put three balls on the ground – two of them they recovered and the other on the fourth down, I just need to hold onto the damn ball,” Mayfield told reporters. “I am proud of these guys being able to step up. These guys did not even think they were going to play. For anybody to criticize them, shame on you. Put it on me for not doing my job, for not playing at a high level like I should have and for not getting these guys going and finishing out this game.”

Well...a line has certainly been drawn regarding Baker. Odds have to be favorable.

Gotta love this forum.

When asked about him Ward also said he talks to him often....also mentioned Baker was among the first to congratulate him. Because they don't feel the need to share it on IG or Twitter does not mean they don't still think he can play.....might also think to stick up for Baker is a bad look for the new #1 guy?

No doubt it's very likely they know having him around would be a distraction. Not sure where NWPAT is coming up with those pearls of wisdom that most or all Browns fans disagree with that opinion.

I wasn't trying to say none of BM's former teammates had something nice to say about him. But it seems like more have nothing to say about him.

Too bad things had to end this way in Cleveland for him. He showed at times some dam good potential. But overall his 4 years didn't live up to what most of us Browns fans were hoping for.

He was surrounded by plenty of stars on both sides of the ball. They had ample picks that they swung and missed on as well. But they had plenty of talent. There were drafts and players selected before BM arrived. Almost every year they had a 900+ yard receiver as well as a 900 yard rusher. Oh and please don't make this sound like defense didn't help.

NE would've died to have all those picks and potential talent.

It's not hard to see if you take the blinders off how a 0 win team becomes a playoff team.

I wasn't ridiculing Baker, I was trying like others on here to show you Baker does not hold all the cards. Especially given his prima donna attitude.

Try again? For what? Take your blinders off. He's a cancer and his stock continues to drop. No need to try again.
