I agree, and that might give the Browns an out.

If the Browns insist Mayfield shows up to preseason and he sits out, he's then in breach of contract, maybe allowing the Browns to cut him without paying him.

They definitely don't have to pay him if he holds out but not sure they could cut him then not pay him.

Truth be told, concerning the comment to which you replied, it's because he's so brash and arrogant I think he would show up.....to show everyone they were wrong about him and - right or wrong - he can be the guy he was in 2020 again.

Allow me to catch you up on things (many of your own comments).....Pretty sure others brought up Lock before I mentioned him (likely you were among them). There have been a number of Lock mentions lately because Seattle could be one of the teams who could have interest in Baker. Lock is their QB as I'm sure you know as you have mentioned him quite often.

If they are smart, they'll do like some NBA teams do....tell him to stay home until they can find a trade for him.

The best I found is they can fine him game checks for each game missed, including preseason games at 1.04M each game, eventually these fines would lessen the money owed and maybe a team is willing to trade more than a dog bitten Frisbee for him.

It's true the more games he misses (or is active) the less he is owed.....probably better for all parties that he plays to increase his value. Even if only preseason games.

Guess that could go the other way if he played and shit the bed.

FWIW, I'm not sold on any of the 2022 drafted QB's so anyteam looking at one of them as a starter, should still be in the Mayfield mix.

another year like last one bust could be in play, I guess.

Depends what one calls a bust. If someone has to be complete garbage to be a bust (like Russell, Akili Smith, Rosen, etc) then he's not a bust. If bigtime overdrafted can = bust then he could still "achieve" that.
