These two seem to be considered the best two shut down corners currently (with respect to Champ). So if money wasn't a factor and these guys were available for the league minimum which one would you take?
I'm biased towards Sherman but Revis is outstanding too. Who ya got?
Hard to say, with Revis coming off the injury, but I'd lean to him if he gets back to full strength. You guys are playing the Bucs next year, though, right? Should be intersting.
Yup, they come to Seattle though so that helps us big time. Freeman is serviceable and of course they have young Doug Martin to contend with. I expect the Bucs to be a good team. Revis certainly helps them a lot.
Sherman. He's hot now. Revis, I have no clue about. I could be wrong but I didn't think he was as good as his reputation the last year he played. And I've noticed with corners, once you earn the rep as a lockdown guy or ballhawk, it sticks with you forever even if you aren't anymore. Could be the same with Revis. People still think he's the same as he was at his peak. Revis is questionable for me right now but I know Sherman's peak is now
I know it changes by position and from person to person, but I feel like the doctors have really improved the reconstructive knee surgery and rehabilitation methods. Adrian Peterson's comeback last year serves as pretty good evidence to what those doctors are doing. With that said, I think Sherman needs to play at this level for at least one more year. Popping on a drug test makes him lose points in my eyes too, even if he weaseled out of the suspension on some technicality.
Although testing positive is a distant second to so far only being a one-hit wonder. Revis earned his status by being a ProBowler since '08 and an AllPro '09-'11, and Sherman needs to earn it the same way. One year is enough to open the door and welcome him to the discussion, but now he has to prove he belongs by staying at this high level. There really is no reason to think he won't, but in my opinion he needs to actually do it before I elevate him to the top.
So, I'd still go for Revis until he shows on the field that he isn't the same player after injury.
Hard to say if revis will be back to his island status after putting in a new knee.. he was great.. sherman is great now.. today you have to pick the guy that would be able to step on the field and play.. there is only one option .. closer to the season or during it could change.. its like would you raither have jim thorpe or dion sanders.. ones dead.. ones retired but who would you rather have..
