I’ll go all the way back to my OP...

The question I posed was when would Philly go back to Foles? It was OBVIOUS that Wentz wasn’t ready. All you had to do was watch his first couple of games to see that!! In fact, many posters acknowledged the same at the time.

However, several Wentz fanboys were calling for his return. None louder than the biggest Wentz fanboy of all... @PhoenixEagles1. In fact, PE1 was saying he had a “feeling” Wentz would return week one despite all the reports to the contrary.

Wentz was rushed back by the eagles for one reason and one reason only: they knew if Foles played well they would have a QB controversy on their hands and given all that they gave up to get Wentz they couldn’t afford that. Foles had a great playoff run last year and was the SB MVP. The eagles knew that if the team did well under Foles the first half of the year it would be tough to bench him in favor of Wentz. So they rushed him back to avoid having to deal with that.

It’s ironic that the very thing they were trying to avoid... they got. After the second loss to Dallas and faced with the prospect of playing the Rams and Texans (2 playoff teams) they sat Wentz and played Foles. They figured the season was lost. No worry of a QB controversy. But they didn’t count on Foles playing great. They didn’t count on the team rallying around Foles the way they did and playing lights out and even when they didn’t play lights out... they didn’t count on Foles picking himself up off the turf and leading this team to a great victory.

Nope... they didn’t count on having the very thing they were hoping to avoid. Well... they got it. There is now real talk about what to do going forward. I have no doubt that @Omar 382 is right when he says “they are going to live or die with Wentz”. I get it. They paid a lot to get him and they can’t change horses midstream. But don’t think for a second that following this philosophy makes it the right decision. Why? Because whatever they may have thought about Wentz when they drafted him doesn’t change the reality NOW which is he is a QB with a reconstructed knee and an injured back. Those are FACTS.

The eagles are lucky that Wentz is still on his rookie deal. I asked the question before but nobody answered it: if this was Wentz contract year... would you give him the Jimmy G deal?

While what you say makes sense.
I am not 100% sure on that. it is all about timing. When do you think Brady moves on or when he gets an injury. If Foles had a contract where he is paid well, in a good organization dedicated to winning championships & gets a bump in pay when the time occurs. It all depends on how long he thinks or is willing to bet Brady staying as the starter. if he thinks that is for another 4 years. Yeah I see him choosing somewhere else. if he thinks the next year or two, I could see him taking a chance going to the Pats. (if they are even truly interested)

I don’t think so.

Wentz was rushed back because he is much better then Foles and was cleared to play with no additional risk at reinjury.

You really think the Eagles said... “If we start Foles we will make the playoffs and if we start Wentz we won’t so let’s start Wentz and skip the playoffs”. Somehow I think you’re wrong.

Two, the Eagles will probably give Wentz his 200 million this summer. Don’t know if Wentz is fine playing another year under his rookie deal. So Wentz will get a much larger deal then Garrapolo (sp?).

Foles is an amazing guy. He is fearless, tough and a leader. But he is a journeyman QB traded away and cut by two teams after that because Foles career has been marked with high highs and low lows. Praying he takes less to stay in Philly but he will probably be playing for the Jaguars or Giants next season. Wish we could find a way because he is a legend in Philly... FOREVER

well they said that on the air, few former players at actually stated that with this team, and this coaching staff that nick foles is more suited to be the qb than wentz, and thats not a great spot to be in. since wentz is younger, and theres the investment, and obviously the coach is not going anywhere
