Lets discuss.

Think about how many teams are not satisfied with their qb play. How many teams havent been satisfied for a long time.

what at least 1/2 the teams could use an upgrade.......thats probably generously low

Considering the top 5 QB's for almost a decade were the same exact guys most years, I'd say it's pretty hard to find elite. Hell, it's difficult to find an average starting QB.

Bills haven't had a great one since like 95. Not a decent one since Flutie.

whats scary is that there are a lot of teams that have QBs that are getting up in age like the saints, chargers, cowboys, steelers, broncos and there are teams that have QBs of decent age but they dont perform when it counts panthers, falcons, bengals, bears, 49ers so really its rough finding a good young QB only the colts seem to be in position to dominate for the upcoming years....

Hell, what is satisfactory? I know within the Chiefs fanbase, there's a huge debate over just how good a QB needs to be to win a SB.

Considering the Last QB in KC that was elite was Len Dawson I WOULD SAY PRETTY DAMN HARD

Now I did not include Montana in the conversation I was going on home grown only

And that's not a shot I like the Chiefs

The NFL is pretty much divided evenly between the haves & the have-nots. The funny part about that is that for a passing league, the NFL is devoid of talent at the QB position. That is why the even slightly above average QB(s) still make $12+ mil per season. It's also why teams like the Rams & Skins are hesitant to release Bradford & RG3 because there might not be better QB(s) available to replace them.

It's amazing how few teams can find and DEVELOP a QB.

Philly has traded backups AJ Feeley and Kevin Kolb for second round picks (multiple ones in the case of Kolb) because teams were so desperate for a serviceable QB. Both guys totally flopped of course, because they looked better in the Philly scheme, with a good line, than on teams with no talent. But such is the desperation out there.

By most accounts, there are really only two, maybe three NFL starter level prospects in this draft. So, do the math: about 10 teams will be stuck with no QB future once again opening day, trying to win with the likes of Matt Cassel and Geno Smith, etc.

This is why I strongly believe that if Philly decides to trade Foles, he will fetch a first round pick. Why? Because the alternatives are extremely bleak and people will look at Foles and say, he is a lower risk than all of them.

To find a good one? Probably very hard. I expect Mariotta to be another NFL Johnny Football. And after that what do you got?

While the result may be the same, Mariota is not Johnny Football. He is a boy scout. There are no tabloid photos of him with rolled up dollar bills in Vegas bathrooms. He's also 6-4 and 220 pounds, running a 4.5 40.

NFL teams will be much less scared to take a shot on Mariota. His floor is not nearly as bad as Manziel's.

The QB shortage is a result of an unfortunate system. The best prospects coming out of school wind up in hopeless franchises and are immediately expected to be the salvation. Gone are the days when QB's sat for a couple years before being thrown to the wolves. Someone needs to remember even the worst linebacker and safetys in the league are better than 99.5% of the kids they played against in college. Until the league installs some kind of intern program or farm league the problem will not get better.

Tim Tebow was practically a saint and flopped too. Mariota will suffer the same fate the other QBs who played the spread in college did in the pros.
