@Johnnydollaz89 & I talked about this movie a few months ago. I decided to watch it again last night and give it a proper review.
If you are confused about the dates, then join the club. The movie was originally released back in '14, but for some reason it is having a re-release this year? I haven't figured out why. But I suspect the original release was foreign? Now it is being brought to the US?
If any of you are a fan of Eli Roth's works, then this movie is a must-see. This movie went well beyond my expectations and left me feeling pretty disturbed. The acting from the leads is solid. Andy Powers especially is fantastic as Kent and carries the earlier parts of the film with a really good performance. Laura Allen is also very good as Kent's wife Meg whose journey through the film is in some ways as interesting to witness as his own. Peter Stormare was icing on the cake. Some of the other supporting cast are admittedly not fantastic, but that doesn't detract from the movie as a whole. The film is generally well-paced but suffers a little during the middle where it seems to stall. But don't worry if you feel this way because it soon gets going again and when it does, it really puts the pedal to the metal. Some of the scenes towards the end will stay with me for a long time. Hats off to the makeup department, because what they achieved with so little CGI should be considered a masterpiece. I do wish that the "transformation" had a faster pace just so we could have seen the end result for a longer period of time, rather than just a 5 minute scene. Oh well, just be prepared to shit your pants when you finally see it! This movie is dark, disturbing, original and very entertaining. The gore is excellent. One of the best horror films of recent years.
Reinventing a childhood nightmare... 8.5/10
Remains to be seen. It has good content for the depraved, but if you're looking for good & new material year around... Emphasis on GOOD! Not really worth it.
Yea I didn't get it either. Lots of films that felt like they were just mindless grabs at cliche horror. As if they just threw out a brainstorming board of different & unique ways to kill characters and then made it all happen in each movie. And that's why I cancelled it. Gore without a reason doesn't do anything for me.
I believe everything in quotes is italicized...answers italicized above.
You've never seen Nosferatu?I believe everything in quotes is italicized...
NOS4A2 (sp?) had very interesting commercials but I never watched it. I just found out from a dracula play that Nosferatu is a vampire or something?
