You take a boat from Cancun way out past the shipping lanes.

Then, you see a pod of whale sharks, fish bigger than your boat and you jump in the water. For some reason, I was so excited to jump in the water with the whale sharks and never thought about how large the fishies were.

That whale shark was probably five feet from my wife. I have a picture where I am in contact with the whale shark's nose as it surprised me from behind and I literally flew out of the water to avoid, but I took a picture as I avoided. Just hard to discern anything. Whale shark skin is rough.

We could have swam all day with them, but you do get very tired swimming. The best part, how many kids can say they swam with whale sharks in the middle of the ocean?

My son's picture was probably the best picture taken on the excursion. Better than any of the professional camera pictures that we bought of our whale shark trip. I think that was 400 pictures for 20 bucks or so.
