Guess the basketball team watched the wrestling team...ugh, they didn't want to win this one, pathetic.

Yeah, that was probably the worst game of the year. Terrible. 13 minutes without a bucket and once again pathetic FT shooting. This team doesn't have the mental toughness to challenge for the B1G title. I have no idea why guys just fail to show up.

Missed FT's cost us this game. We did not deserve to win. But what is pissing me off right now is that stupid fucking ref who didn't find it necessary to watch the half court line and missed the over and back violation in OT. Absolutely no excuse to be that out of position.

Blaming the officials for this loss is ridiculous. The refs were the least of the reasons this game was lost. WTF?

Wings,

The ref was out of position on that play. That is totally inexcusable. Especially with the defensive set Iowa was in and the point on the floor. That call should have been made.

I do agree with you that Iowa lost this game well before that play transpired.

Let's not forget...Fran gets another technical...and MSU makes both freethrows...the game goes into OT...

But given Fran's T...that didn't cost Iowa tonight in regulation.

This was another game that Iowa should NOT have lost!!!

Well the Fran technical was the ref too, that was even worse than an NBA layup, guy started at the 3 point line and never dribbled for a layup...that T was fine with me, the ref's called a really weird game if you ask me. The poor non call on that pass, etc...but I was ok with the non call on Gesell at the end, they never call those...ever. It's just not done. Was it a foul, likely, but they wouldn't have called that unless an arm really went flying.

We lost on the FT line plain and simple, plus the poor play in the second half. No way that goofy Leave it to Beaver guy should have gotten all those rebounds on us and then red haired Eddie Haskell hit that 3 at the end...ugh. Had to throw some old nostalgia in there, but Kamisky was his name? reminded me of Lumpy

I think the point-blank shots was where Iowa lost this game tonight. 37% from the floor. 25% in 3's. Two glaring statistics. 43 free throw attempts is a huge number. Making 30 free throws is also a huge number. 13 missed free throws is the glaring statistic...because everyone is overlooking the missed field goal attempts.

If Iowa makes 7-8 more field goals and 2-4 more 3-pt shots --- very achievable --- this game goes into a route. MSU would be forced to foul more on defense and Iowa would have shot over 50 free throws tonight.

They then hit a three on that possession.

Moving on to tonight's game, at Illinois...this is a team that started out really well and has tanked lately, but still dangerous. We haven't won there but a handful of times in many years, so we better not have a hangover from MSU and bring the A game or we go home with a losing streak.

Iowa wins if they make their point-blank shots.

Yeah, it's games like this that make me realize Iowa won't go too far in the dance. Blowing a 22 point lead, meh.

Still, they pulled it out with inconsistent play. Hopefully in some of these future games they'll play the whole game with their full capability; without any of these scoring droughts and defensive collapses.

I was getting vocal for a bit...one knock on Fran is when a team makes a run he just watches it happen...I think he forgets we have time outs for him to utilize in order to take out all of his frustration on the kids

This was definitely noticeable when Illinois started that 1st half comeback. Did he even call one?

I was thinking the same thing during both halves.
