I will be glad when Hernandez and Rodriquez are gone.
Send him down and bring up Cueto.YRod continues the struggle.
He has played 0 this year, 4 games last year and 6 in 2022.Huff has played first. But by all means let’s not give Lowe any time off no matter how bad of a slump he’s in.
If you can justify Grossman why not Huff? Not much choice. He has played 0 this year, 4 games last year and 6 in 2022.
I have never justified Grossman. But Huff is not a replacement for Lowe. I do agree I would like Huff to backup Heim and DH some. He sure won't do worse than Knitzner and Huff.If you can justify Grossman why not Huff? Not much choice.
Sorry my friend but I had to give it up.Hard to watch.
Glad your online. When Philly upped the lead to 6-3 in the 4th I sad to myself game over. Can't wait to hear from @fanman8825 and Saddles.
understandSorry my friend but I had to give it up.
You said he was just a catcher. He has played first like I said. You were wrong. He has played 0 this year, 4 games last year and 6 in 2022.
I am not trying to get some on this board ticked off. But we saw when Lowe was on the DL the shortcomings we have with someone playing 1st. The majority of Huff's experience at 1b came in 2021 when he played that position for 371 innings. His next highest was 92 innings in 2018. Since 2021 he played 32 innings in 2022 for the Rangers, none in the minors, and 2023 he played 7 innings again with the Rangers with no time in the minors. So since 2021 a total of 39 innings. I find it hard to believe that we do not have someone on the team either at the MLB level or AAA who can be a decent substitute for Lowe. That just seems to be the easiest position to fill. And many catchers move over to 1b. But the Rangers have not made that commitment with Huff for some reason. It seems they started to but changed course. So again what I am saying is that I don't think we actually have someone who could be legit at replacing Lowe.Sam Huff has played 566 innings at 1B in his professional career. He night not be an ideal 1B, but he is better qualified to backup 1B than anyone we have had in awhile except the guy we had earlier this year who can not hit. They have been willing to let Foscue and Duran play there and Huff is way more qualified than either of them. If Lowe had to go on the DL, Huff would be the best we currently have to play 1B on a regular basis.
They made a big deal this spring to say they want Huff to catch a lot of games this year. That is because they want to get him more experience at catcher. It was not because they viewed his play at 1B as inadequate. I think you see him not playing 1B this year as an indictment on his ability there, and I don't see it that way at all. Either way though, the result is him not playing 1B this year, either there or here, unless they change their mind about him catching a lot this year.I am not trying to get some on this board ticked off.
