Maybe they'll get together and swap nightmare contract for nightmare contract.

Andrus and Choo for Kemp and Upton.

We'll give you a semi-usable SS and a mostly worthless RF for the 2nd worst position player in all of baseball and the better of the two Upton strikeout machines.

Lose-lose for everyone... sound good?

Can we just win one damn game and get to the break? Can't imagine 3 sweeps in a row and an 8 game losing streak being a reality.

This from Yardbarker on guys being moved (potentially) at the deadline.

Justin Upton: The grand Padres experiment of 2015 looks to be heading towards failure, and that could spur their busy front office into making moves with an eye towards the future. Upton is a prime trade candidate due to his impending free agent status and the likelihood that he’ll be priced out of San Diego’s comfort zone this winter. Only 27, Upton is having another solid year at the plate and would do wonders for a team’s outfield situation. And free agent or not, Upton would command a high price in prospects were the Padres to make him available. If San Diego falls further out of the NL West race, Upton could very well be on the move.

2 RH bats in the OF?! Whoa.
Kemp & Josh could alternate DL stints and make for quite the LF option.

Greinke gave up just 1 hit in 8 innings last night and extended his scoreless streak to 35.2 innings. He now has an ERA of 1.39. He just seems to be getting better and better.

His ERA since he's been a Dodger, 2.63-2.71 and 1.39, while his WHIPs stand at 1.114-1.152 and 0.843.

That $147 mil investment sure looks pretty good doesn't it?

Cant remember exactly but I think because of a lack of run support he may only have 2 wins in that stretch? I have him in a fantasy league and the Dodgers offense is killing him and me. I usually try and pick him in the draft and he has a really good first half most years. It was the second half last year where I think he started his regression. Still pretty damn good overall. Was hoping JD found a way to woo him one day.

I'm so glad we refused to give up Mike Olt for him. And then turned around and dealt Olt as part of a package for Matt Garza the next season.

LAD is 8-2 in games he started which more than covers their NLW lead at the midpoint. That may be a better measure of his contribution and worth of the investment than ERA and WHIP.

Problem is the 8 no decisions which goes to the poor run support. Can't continue to waste talent like that without it biting your butt sooner or later.

Looking at this a little more ... LAD won 4 of the 8 Greinke no decisions. So he kept the team in the game contributing then to 12 team wins. In one of those team wins he gave up 5 runs in 6IP against COL. So in the other seven no decisions including four the team lost ... he gave up a total of only 7ER. In the games LAD lost where he got the decision he gave up only 3ER.

If LAD starts putting runs up in the second half with Greinke on the mound ... LAD is likely to run away with the NLW ... extending their 5.5 game lead they already hold.

So you are correct ... Greinke is pitching better although the game results could easily be lots better and just slightly higher offensive output Greinke could easily be 18-0 at the break.

It wouldn't have helped us now to have traded for half of a season of Greinke in 2012 though. Was it straight up Olt for Greinke or were other players involved?

And that's why I don't put stock in record to determine worth of a pitcher. I still don't know how Scott Feldman won 17 games in 2009.

Considering the Angels sent Segura and two pitchers, I highly doubt it. I thought it was a Profar and Olt combo, but I've slept a bunch since then.
