Who said that he is better? He is about the least capable 3&D the Warriors can have as to play on Klay's position... But Russell isn't a 3&D... just isn't...

Korver is slow, has a shorter wingspan than Russell, and the numbers show he's a worse defender than Russell. His 3-pt % was only 2.8% better than Russell's last year, and Russell had more volume. At this point, Russell is better as a 3&D.

Not to mention the whole ball handling part

How do you know? Have you ever see Russell play off the ball?

He has never played off the ball all his life...

He has played 2 in the NBA at times.

He literally played off the ball at times with Dinwiddie just last year.

It isn't the case... Playing 2 doesn't make you a 3&D... The Nets have (rarely) played with two ballhandler on the floor this past season... It was in cases that Allen had issues to pick and roll the ball with one ballhandler behind him... It's just another way to space the floor... My Bucks do that all the time...

For fuck sakes you started this with he never played off the ball

He has done that in LA and Brooklyn.

You confuse having two ballhandlers on the floor with playing off the ball... When you play two ballhandlers, the ball is still ...one! ...it always is one!

So

How is it any different with it being Curry or Dinwiddie or Clarkson

It is very different because GSW doesn't play much pick and roll... They don't have Allen or Gasol for Cf...

But in your scenario he isn't the point guard

He's a comparable catch and shoot guy with better defense and like 5 times better creating ability

Kyle Korver?

Come on bro

They do a fair amount of pick and roll with Draymond and they did last year with McGee too. Will see more with WCS next year.

As for Korver, he is not a 3 and D player. He is literally one of the worst wing defenders in the league. While Russell isn’t 3 and D either, it does not matter because he and Curry can both play off the ball and Kerr has shown the ability to adapt his system to feature the talents of his players.

I have.

His last 20 or so games with the Lakers, Luke moved him to SG. He played really well. It was the best sustained stretch of games he had with the Lakers.

At that point, I was hoping the Lakers would keep him and leave him at SG.

It really doesn't matter because he is a one year rental to temporarily replace Klay Thompson. Once Thompson has recovered, they will trade him for a forward that is as close to Kevin Durant as possible

Yes he has

Have you watched Russell play?

OK... you obviously have an idea of a player's game that is different to mine or the stats... it makes no sense to keep this argument going.

He shot 39 percent on catch and shoot shots and he has played off the ball in both places he has played I am not sure what more needs to be said as to his ability to play the 2 on offense. So yes I agree this is a futile discussion.

Just as he has his last two stops he can play either the one or the two it won't really matter who is the de facto point or SG when he and Curry are both on the floor.
