Lol. Let's get back to the accusations. Sorry, we are talking about a woman judge saying he was guilty. Not a shocker there. Like this judge was not potentially biased. The justice system is a joke. Now you put a jury consisting of men and women and chances are the accuser gets no money.

Hope this deal gets done and McClain gets signed. Rotating mincey and Lawrence along with hardy and we suddenly have a pass rush. This would allow the cowboys to unleash mcclain on the qb from the middle

I'm guessing there was merit to the accusations. NFL teams all have PI's, and if a guy like Hardy had no red flags, he'd never hit the open market, and if he did, there'd be 20 teams bidding for him. On the field, this guy is one of the 2-3 best DE's in the game, which is why I think Jerry is willing to look the other way. I think not taking Randy Moss still chaps his rear. I also think this is why the Cowboys held firm on the number they would give Murray

It's amazing how little I care about off the field antics. The 90's dynasty was a collection of horrific human beings, who gives a shit? They were great at football and that's all I care about.

I think Mincey will stay at DE, and Dallas will draft a run stuffer, of which there are a ton in this years draft. Hardy is excellent against the run, adding a tank 1T would be a great move IMO

Correct. Hardy is naturally a RDE and I don't see us moving him other than when we try to create matchup problems. Lawrence on the strong side would be asking for a lot of trouble. I think Mincey moves to the strong side, Hardy plays the weak side and Lawrence rotates in as will some other guys. I'm sure in the nickel we will get creative and get all 3 of them on the field with Crawford at times. Rotating isn't a bad thing with Marinelli, it's just the way he does things.

I care enough that I want the victim and the accused to have their day in court.
I want the guilty punished but also to have a chance for them to show they changed.

And for the record, if your wife, mother, sister were ever physically assaulted, I'm sure would care then.
Now you might not realize this as you live in your moral vacuum, but it's still a crime when it happens to a stranger.

Meh, not really the same thing at all but won't get into it. Bottom line is I have no problem signing this guy if he helps the team win.

But you can't possibly be in favor of giving him the same mega, long term contract that he would get if he didn't have these issues, right?

From a common sense standpoint, no, it would be a bad investment. Same as McClain. I have no beef with what they've done in the past (doesn't mean I celebrate it) and my only concern with what they do in the future would be how it impacts the Cowboys. If they stay on short term deals and know they have to be on their best behavior to keep getting paid it's a good move. Locking them up long term and giving them a bottomless pit of money is a recipe for disaster as their focus and common sense could slip.

Report: Bucs out of running, Greg Hardy likely to Cowboys

1137463.jpg

The Buccaneers have lost interest in free agent defensive end Greg Hardy, so "he'll apparently be a Cowboy," reports Pro Football Talk. Hardy was visiting the Cowboys on Wednesday.

Hardy, 26, is seeking more than $6 million in 2015 pay, according to CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Hardy had 26 sacks in the 2012 and 2013 seasons for the Panthers before spending most of last season on the exempt list due to a domestic violence case. He's expected to receive a league suspension.

Interesting, they suddenly just lost interest?

Greg Hardy Likely To Sign With Cowboys
March 18th at 12:32pm CST by Zach Links
12:32pm: The Bucs have lost interest in Hardy and unless someone else gets involved, it sounds like he’ll be a Cowboy, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk tweets.

Meanwhile, Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com (on Twitter) is curious to see what the deal looks like in terms of length, guarantee, and total money. La Canfora hears that Hardy is seeking upwards of $6MM for 2015.

8:19am: After meeting with the Cowboys on Tuesday, agent Drew Rosenhaus says Greg Hardywill decide between signing with them or the Buccaneers tonight, according to Albert Breer of NFL.com (on Twitter). The Seahawks were also in the running for the talented defensive end, but it appears that they have fallen out of the chase.

Hardy, who had 15 sacks in 2013 for the Panthers before missing most of the 2014 season, remains on the commissioner’s exempt list as the league completes its review of his case. Hardy remains eligible to sign a new contract, even on the exempt list. There has yet to be a decision from the NFL on what kind of discipline the 26-year-old will face.

Hardy made the Pro Bowl in 2013 after he compiled a career-high 15 sacks, and Pro Football Focus (subscription required) ranked him as the second-best overall defensive end in the league. He signed a $13.1MM deal for the 2014 season and wound up playing in just one game for that entire campaign.

The Cowboys have both Jeremy Mincey and DeMarcus Lawrence at defensive end but Hardy would obviously give a major boost to Dallas’ defensive line. If he comes aboard, Eatman writes that Hardy would step in at right defensive end, Lawrence would likely switch to the left side, and Mincey would serve as a roving lineman with occasional defensive tackle duties. A rush featuring Hardy and Lawrence would be absolutely terrifying on paper, but Dallas would have to take on the backlash and potential baggage that could come with signing Hardy.

The Bucs lost out on what would have been a huge upgrade to their pass rush when Derrick Morgan opted to stay put with the Titans, but signing Hardy would give them a similar or greater boost in the front seven. After releasing Michael Johnson just one year after inking a five-year, $43.75MM contract, Tampa Bay needs to find a suitable replacement somehow.

Maybe Tampa figured they're going to have their hands full with Winston. :noidea:

Winston could be a problem, but I think he figures it out? Jameis probably has most of that immature stuff out of his system by now, but maybe not. I think he will do well in the NFL. Then again I am not the best source when it comes to NFL QB talent.

Back to Hardy, I hope this ends up being a great sign for the Cowboys. I still have some reservation, but if he can live up to his talent and stay out of trouble. The pass rush and the secondary presumably, just got considerably better.

it would be a tremendous on-field add. you just have to hope it doesn't somehow blow up off the field.

On the field, he is an unbelievable upgrade for the Cowboys, at a position of need. Couple his addition with Sean Lee coming back, and on paper anyway, the defense looks much better. A RB and some more defensive help in the draft and this bunch will look pretty good

Lets just hope the NFLPA gets their way and he is not suspended 6 games and misses less time ultimately. That would be great if the Cowboys could get him on the field earlier than first reported. I mean the guy did virtually miss an entire season last year. Jerry's people may can help him in his issues with the league, more than Carolina's people did or could have?
