The Dallas Cowboys and defensive end Greg Hardy have agreed to a one-year, $11.3 million deal that could be worth up to just over $13 million, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

He's a difference maker, will walk in as the best player on the D(even my boy Lee). Hopefully McClain is up next, and a defense heavy draft

This affords the Cowboys options in the draft, obviously RB is just as much of a priority as it was before. That said the pass rush and CB or S don't have to be top priority and they can go RB early and Defense early and often after that. Depending on the contract terms in length of course, it opens other possibilities up as well. Maybe the draft minds can fit a potential QB candidate for down the road, like Bryce Petty or another option into this draft?

One year and $11 million, could get to over $13

Free agent defensive end Greg Hardy agreed to a one-year deal with the Cowboys, the team announced. The deal has a minimum base salary, but Hardy can earn up to $13.1 million, according to Pro Football Talk.

3:00pm: Pro Football Talk has the specific breakdown of the contract, tweeting that Hardy gets a $750K base salary, a $1.3116MM workout bonus, $9.25MM in per-game roster bonuses, and $1.8044MM in sack-based incentives. The Cowboys also won’t be allowed to designate him as their franchise or transition player next season (Twitter link).

Hardy’s 2014 salary, for the record, was $13.116MM, which is the exact same amount this year’s deal can be worth if he maxes it out.

Yes sir

My wish list would be CB, RB, DT and FS.

Do we have enough to bring back guys like Hayden/Selvie or do we replace them in the draft?

From a common sense standpoint, no, it would be a bad investment. Same as McClain. I have no beef with what they've done in the past (doesn't mean I celebrate it) and my only concern with what they do in the future would be how it impacts the Cowboys. If they stay on short term deals and know they have to be on their best behavior to keep getting paid it's a good move. Locking them up long term and giving them a bottomless pit of money is a recipe for disaster as their focus and common sense could slip.

Agree

I don't know exactly on the cap at the moment without checking. I saw Selvie was talking to another team yesterday but cant remember which, now. I think one or the other maybe, guess it will depend some on what happens with McClain as far as $ goes.

they are going to re-structure Romo's contract which will free up approximately 9-10M and they are still looking at Carr's contract

Low risk high reward contract. Great pass rushers make everyone around them better. Cowboys get another starter in the draft and the defense will improve immensely over last season. Hardy is going to be fun to watch as he tries to earn the money.

So the last year of Romo's contract the cap hit be 325 million.

One year 11.3M. Can we NOW end the AP to Dallas BS. No cap space even if AP gave a discount.

Agree. A little pricey but it doesn't destroy the team going forward if he gets in more trouble.

Regardless, the Cowboys desperately needed to upgrade their pass rush this offseason and they'll get that with the signing of the "Kraken." Before sitting out last season (played in one game), Hardy collected 15 sacks in 2013 and 11 in 2012. The Ole Miss product also went to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl in 2013 while making second team All-Pro. Watch Hardy's highlights in the video embedded below.

At 6-4, 275 lbs., Hardy gives tackles difficulty with his impressive footwork and imposing strength. And at 26 years old, he's just approaching his prime in the NFL.

There's no doubt Hardy will be a great fit for the 'Boys, the numbers don't lie. The question is, will he stay out of trouble in Dallas?

Pretty damn good vs the run as well and still playing for his next contract. He will have all the millions of reasons to keep his nose clean. So many cant do it these days, here is to hoping he can and play the entirety of the season beyond the suspension

Hope not on Romo. Look at Carr and others first. It's not like we need to clear $13M in cap space, only what he is "likely to receive" based on my recollection of how bonuses count against the cap.
