This thread reeks of butthurt. I'm all for yelling fuck the A's but to try and take anything away from them when they played their asses off and we played like shit is pretty lame.
Read again. I never said we deserved anything. We didn't. We deserved exactly what we got. The A's did want it more. But playing your ass off involves hustling, making great fielding plays, legging out doubles, and coming through with clutch hits. Yeah, they did do some of that. But no amount of "playing your ass off" can turn .200-hitting singles hitters into power machines who are just suddenly able to lead all of baseball in HR's.
I guess if the Houston Astros place 8 hitters in the top 10 in HR's next season we should all just tip our caps to them because of their dedication to suddenly being able to drive pitches 100 feet farther at a much, much higher rate than ever before.
And while we're at it, let's fully expect the Kansas City Royals to lead baseball in team ERA. Because after all, it is a very common occurrence for journeyman utility players, fringe prospects, and a few downright awful players to suddenly perform among the best in baseball. Not eyebrow-raising at all.
