Nah, not gonna miss this guy at all.

:L

A lot of teams could have really used him too. Guess he really wanted to pitch for the Yankees or go back? I feel like most teams could have used him.

A damn good career and a ton of fun to watch in his best years (2014/16).

Damn that split of his was devastating. And they knew it was coming and still couldn't lay off.

Seeing that he signed with Rakuten for about $8M, but all the noise here was that he wanted $15M per minimum. Home country discount? LOL

Whatever the case, he was among the best Yankee FA signings of the last 30 years. Worth every penny.

Definitely worked out a little better than Hideki Irabu and Kei Igawa. That is for sure.

Inexcusable that the Angels couldn’t come up with the cash for him. Unless they end up with Bauer, I have no idea what they are trying to do with their pitching staff.

Read this morning that some MLB team offered him a contract to be their closer. Seeing that he always pitched way better with extra rest, I'm not sure what the logic behind that was.

I think Bauer ends up in Queens. They're the only ones to make an offer to this point, and they traded Matz with no obvious rotation replacement.

Agreed. I think the Mets are the only team that seems to WANT Bauer at this point. He’s all about “building his social media presence” or some shit like that. He fancies himself as some sort of media sensation. Most of the world doesn’t find him to be that interesting, though.

He’d have to be a real moron to sign a 1yr deal at this point in his career. His value will never be higher than it is right now. And although I DO think he’s a moron, he’s not that big of a moron.

It's even crazier considering how weak the AL West looks. A's don't have a lot of depth and the Astros pitching looks suspect. Mariners are mediocre and the Rangers could be the worst team in the AL, if not all of MLB. They should be going all in IMO.

John Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Dodgers could have "similar type" interest as the Mets in signing Trevor Bauer.

It's been reported by Heyman and Andy Martino of SNY that the Mets have offered Bauer a deal for less than four years and less than the $36 million AAV that would be equal to Gerrit Cole's deal. Heyman also notes that the Dodgers wouldn't be interested in a long-term deal for the right-hander, but it's believed by some teams that Bauer wants a long-term deal in a similar structure to what Cole got from the Yankees and Stephen

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Joc Pederson has agreed to a contract with the Cubs.

Jeff Passan of ESPN says it's a one-year, $7 million deal and that Pederson is expected to get a chance to play every day. Joel Sherman of the New York Post says there's also a mutual option for 2022. The Cubs have been mostly been subtracting players this offseason, but now they've made a notable addition. Pederson would slide right into the left field spot vacated by Kyle Schwarber, a player he is very similar to offensively. Unlike Schwarber, though, Pederson can play a competent left field. He'll surely fare well against righties in 2021, but it will be interesting to see whether Joc can do any damage versus lefties. Pederson has just a .576 career OPS against southpaws, although the Dodgers rarely let him face them.

Good move for the Cubs. They replace Schwarber's bat in left with a better defender.

Nice!!! I am so glad to hear that. I put out a top 10 stock list on that board 3-4 years ago that included Apple, Amazon, Nvidia, Microsoft, Google, Facebook(can’t recall the rest). Jets mentioned that his Dad bought some Apple so we were loving that one together. Snoogins only wanted to mock me as a know-nothing fraud. I just wanted to make those guys some money. If you search that board for “Nvidia”, I am sure you can get that list(not many posts with that word in them over there...lol). Would love to see it. Everything on that list is up approximately a zillion % from when I posted it. But you can only lead a horse to water.....

searched that thread

guess who???

"Lol...ok..
You play buzzword bingo with major technology conglomerates and that's about it.
Facebook Amazon Apple you always talk about as though that's a big secret of those companies going to do well.

you never said anything about the rest of those. You just cherry picked theml companies who stocks have done well this year. It's okay. Doesn't make you a bad person.

Ox plays into it"

Damn. Would have loved to see the Red Sox sign Joc.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Cardinals have agreed to acquire Nolan Arenado from the Rockies.

Wow. There was talk that momentum was building toward a deal, but it's still surprising to see it actually happen. No word yet on what the potential return package will be for the Rockies, but Rosenthal notes that the deal will require the approval from both MLB and the player's union as the Rockies will be sending significant cash (believed to be around $50M) in the trade and Arenado will also be deferring money. It's hard to speculate on what the Cardinals will have to give up to make this deal happen, but acquiring a 29-year-old superstar in the prime of his offensive career -- and also the best defensive third baseman of a generation -- is a tremendous get. Stay tuned, as more details are sure to follow
