WS or bust for bravos

Braves re-signed INF Pablo Sandoval to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network says that Sandoval will receive a $1 million salary if in the majors. The 34-year-old finished last season with the Braves after spending most of it with the Giants. He was useful in 2019, but if Sandoval winds up playing much in 2021 it's probably not a good sign for the Braves

There was initially a vesting option for 500 plate appearances, but Sandoval would reach that in a month.

I like these moves. Realmuto needed to go back the Phillies. It may be a bit of an "overpay", but they needed to bring him back or they would not have much of a team this year.
Simmons to the Twins moves a poor fielder (Polanco) off a critical position and replaces him with a very good fielder.

With Siemien, Simmons, and Galvis gone, that just leaves Didi between us and the Reds.
I guess we could go with Segura at SS and Kingery at 2B.

Maybe take a flier on a Kolten Wong?

If you're talking about 2B for Wong, fine. He isn't a shortstop. I've followed him since he played in the Midwest League. He has never played a professional inning at SS and only a few when he was in college.

Sorry, meant Segura to SS and Wong at 2B and let Kingery do his super sub thing.

Good for him. Love the guy and what he did here. Yankees were wise to realize it was time to move on, glad he won’t come back to haunt us

Damn. Gonna miss the hell out of that guy.

First time in a long-ass time the Yankees will have no Japanese representation.

So weird how he just completely lost his splitter over the last year or so. Still was a battler without it, but not quite as elite as he once was.

he was money for a while in the playoffs, that alone was worth the salary. Like you said, once he lost that splitty, it hurt us the last 2 Octobers, and if he can’t be relied upon in the playoffs, unfortunately his value to us to nil

I just hope Cashman's gamble that 2 guys who combined for a grand total of 1 inning last year are going to make up for and hopefully exceed what Tanaka gave works out.

As may be apparent, I have my doubts.

LOL. Yeah that dude is screwed.

Also going to be weird not having 20 members of the Japanese press following the team.

My 2 favorite Japanese Yankees. Tanaka was in high school. Pretty cool.
