First of all - I don't think that it haunts the team or at least not the people running the team. Mistakes were made & you move on. This is true for the Redskins as well as all of us. This is like spending years moaning & groaning about an ex - it is counterproductive.

I was not stating that the RG3 contract does not have a big impact. I agree that he needs to be released. I was simply referring to your reply that the Skins need to be diligent to try to recoup part of that deal. If they do get anything back - great - but a major priority should not be to get something back to make the previous deal not look too bad. Again - who cares. I think that Snyder, SM, Gruden & the rest could give a crap. Getting say a 5th rd pick would be nice, but not nearly as important as moving on w/o RG3. I have faith that SM will have plenty of other mid round picks to use to get quality players.

Oh well - let me take my own advice & move on. Perhaps we agree to disagree.
Man, I wish I could say that RG3 doesn't haunt this FO, but I would be lying. As long as he is on this roster, he is one demand by dan from being in the line up. And I don't trust dan as far as I can throw him. Yes, he appears to have taken a hands off approach this year. The operative word is "appears". I have no faith that he can maintain that stance, at least not until I see it for a few years. I know you have complete faith in SM (you mention it in every post) and I am also hopeful he lives up to his billing, but he can only be successful in given the complete reins to steer this franchise. I hope dan has learned, but history dictates that he is much like his favorite pet, unwilling to learn. My fear is he's just changed his spots, but he is the same old cat.

Yep - anything is possible. However - please show me any proof that he has been meddling recently. As for SM - I get the feeling that if Snyder reverts to his old ways that he will be out the door. If that happens then I believe that this franchise is doomed probably for longer than most of us will live.

I choose to believe that they are heading on the rt path at this pt. If others don't believe that - great - doesn't matter. I will let the results speak for themselves - we will know one or the other in a few years.

socal, yes we had to upset wins against dallas and Philly last year against Weeden and Sanchez. The backup QB's. If Romo was playing Monday it would have been a different story. The only team im worried about is the Bears. They are going to have Forte and Bennett back. This should be the toughest game on our schedule.

On another note, I just found out hat Revis is going to be out Sunday. That sucks!!! Giants are in must win mode they could take advantage of this. Hopefully the Jets dline dominates.

Well, we can look back to this last off season. Gruden stated at the end of the year that there was going to be an open competition at QB. Then, in February he announced the Robert was the starting QB for this year. He had a change of heart.....why do you think that was?

And did RG3 play? And I don't think it was truly due to injury - the whole thing sounded very fishy & I am good with that since the end result is good. Oh well - who knows. Time to relax and just enjoy whatever happens since it is way better than last season regardless.

no, he didn't. But based on all the reports, SM and JD had to go to Dan and explain why they wanted to bench RG3. So as early as the last preseason game, Dan was still involved in the decision making process for who starts at QB. And my bet is that he made it clear that someone's (Gruden, probably) job was on the line for benching RG3 if this didn't work out (pure speculation on my part). Since it has gone relatively well, Dan will probably stay mostly out of the way. But if somehow Robert remains on this team next year (and I don't see this happening), it'll be clear whose decision that was.

I do agree that SM doesn't seem like a guy that would put up with too much meddling. If Dan does start again to cause problems, he would most likely leave.

I actually have tickets to the Game Monday night but likely wont make it as I have a few things going on here that preclude me from being out of town. BUt provided things go well over the next two weeks here, Im still set to make the Skins at Dallas game.

I can understand your point of view. I guess that I am just trying to say that we have hope (that is why I refer to SM so often) in spite of Snyder & we are now actually approaching a pt where it is OK to be a Skins fan & may soon reach the pt where it is a very good thing - we will see.

Yeah I gotta agree with j_y here. No way Gruden suddenly had a change of heart on Griffin, he was told from above to announce Griff the starter IMO. And the only reason he is taking up a roster spot, a spot they sure could have used all year, is because someone above is demanding they retain him.

But SoCal is right, that's the only evidence and we should enjoy the ride because this is totally a better deal than where we were a year ago.

Before the opener I took a picture at Walmart of all the gear. I live about the same distance between DC and Baltimore but in the Baltimore TV market. 10 years ago the area was probably 60/40 Ravens. The Walmart picture told it all, it was all purple with a sliver of red.

But last Sunday I was in the same store and I saw people with Redskins gear all over the place. As I was looking at an item, in my Skins sweatshirt, a mom and daughter passed me and then I heard the little girl ask mom "why is there so much Redskins Stuff?"

Things are changing boys.

I live in way down southern MD. We have both Skins and Ravens fans. I expect if the Ravens don't improve in a year or two and the Redskins do then you will see a lot more burgundy in gold down here.

We are looking too much into the road record. Look at the teams that we had to play on the road. Most of them are elite teams. We were not favored to win any of those games so people should not be surprised at our road record.

I understand Dallas should play us tough but being at home it should propel us to a victory. Plus this game means more to the Skins than Dallas. IF we are for real we should not lose this game.

I dig it that you like KC.....a whole lot clearly, and that's cool, but there's no way, none, that you can come up with that will reasonably show this game means more to the Skins than the Cowboys. In fact I'd say the opposite is true. The Skins are in the driver's seat far as the NFC East crown goes, but no NFC East team is out of contention or really that far from winning the east.

The Skins only advantage at present is if they win out. They do that and what the other teams do doesn't matter at all, the Skins win the NFC East. If Dallas wins out though, I dunno who wins the east, but I know it won't be the Skins as they'll be tied with Dallas with an 8-8 record if the Skins win every other game against non-Dallas opponents. Thus giving Dallas the head to head tie-breaker between the Skins and Boys. If the skins lose to Philly and win the rest of our games while Philly runs the table. The Skins are out. If the Giants run the table and the Skins lose just one game. The Skins are out.

So while the Skins are the only NFC East team at present who can completely control their own destiny. That control is really continent on the Skins winning. If the Skins lose just one game though. They will need help from another team (some team to beat the Giants at least once more) And the more games the Skins lose, the more help they will need. This upcoming MNF game between the Skins and Cowboys is pretty much vital to both teams, but the Skins can more afford a loss than the Cowboys. Who still have a logical chance at winning the East, but also need the most help from other teams to do so.

Right now the Skins have about a 56% chance of winning the NFCEast. Dallas has roughly a 5% chance. A win Monday would increase the Skins chance to about 65%, while Dallas would drop to 1.5%.

A Skins win and a NY and Philly lose on Sunday would increase us to around 72% chance of winning the division.

All this to say, we actually need this game more so than any other team in the Division need a win this week aside from Dallas. Which is why I have said, I think Dallas will give us their best performance sans Romo of the year. It might not be pretty. But I expect them to come in with the mind set of hitting us hard and fast early to try and make us crumble. IF we can either get an early lead, or keep them from getting one going into the half, I think we stand a fair shot.

The Cowboys are done. They know it, we know it. They need to win out without their QB in a year when they are winless without him. They may try for a bit early but let's be honest, they are playing out the string. The Redskins on the other hand have much more at stake because they are the team in first place by tie breaker only and needs to keep winning to stay there.

You been drinking that crazy sauce again Breeder? Didn't we have a talk about that?

Agreed the Cowboys are basically done for the season. And if they were playing say the Colts on Monday night, I might expect them to just put it on cruise control. But you can bet Jerry wants this one, even if they are done. He will stress that to the coaches and the players. I just dont think they come out flat. If nothing else, they will play the pride angle.

I admit they have some more talented players, but we are the better TEAM at the moment. That being said, if this team comes out figuring, we got this... we will get embarrassed Monday night.
