i worry about bryz.. he's a headcase.. i really hope thats not the route the flyers are looking at.. vokoun will cost less and he's a better goalie IMO

bryz is a headcase, will be more expensive, and as the article says he probably wont be a good mentor for bob.. i dont understand how he's the perfect fit?

Yeah that article was a bit contradicting. Figures that scumbag Timmy Panaccio wrote it.

couple guys i havent really thought about..

rask
varlamov
roloson (if he doesn't hang them up)
nabakov (this one is intriguing)

couple of cheaper options that could still be an upgrade.. i dont think rolosin or varlamov are much of an upgrade.. rask is still just a tier above bob.. but i think nabakov is a very interesting option.. he put up fantastic numbers in SJ, granted, in the regular season.. but i think its hard to blame nabakov for their playoff struggles, they were a team of chokers until this year

if you could get nabakov for like 3.5-4 which you might be able to since he left russia after leaving for the money because he wanted to be in the NHL again, i think that might be the road to go.. get a great goalie, a russian to talk with bob, and get him a little cheaper than bryz, vokoun, or kipper, which seem to be the top 3 at the moment

SALARY CAP: $62,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $61,194,988; BONUSES: $850,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $1,005,012

How I Got There:

trading hartnell to phoenix for hanzal.. my thought here is hanzal is a great prospect, thats 6'5-205.. the yotes dont have time to wait/hope for him to breakout this year.. put him with talented guys like briere and you might have something.. i think that could be a good trade for both sides, as phoenix needs to improve, and the flyers need the cap space

again, i moved carle for draft picks (fingers crossed) to clear up some room, then signed gill for 2 instead of carle's 3.4.. giving me space for gust to make the team, bart to be the 7th d-man..

sign scottie upshall :cheer2: at a decent 2.5, again, paired with some skill he can be dynamite IMO

i'm waiving jody shelley cause his 1.1 for losing fights is stupid.. konopka signed at a 200k raise (to 800k) to be the punching bag

leighton backs up nabakov so bob can get quality playing time in the A

EDIT: could all come crashing down if hartnell doesn't waive his NTC to go to phoenix.. which, i suppose i wouldn't blame him for.. damn these NTC!

I like Hanzal. Not sure if the yotes would be ready to give up on him just yet. I think its gotta be Cater instead of Hartnell to get him only because of the NTC. I like the sound of UPSHALL-RICHARDS-VERSTEEG on the same line. All possess grit and skill at the same time. Could be a killer combination. I think Steeg is going to be great next year if they add another forward on that line with skill. Many people forget the fact that Richie and Steeg were setting eachother up non stop because they were paired with noodle and Carbomb most of the time.

And the only problem I see with your offseason plan. Nabakov came back to the NHL to play for the wings. Thats the only flaw I see with him coming to philly. He would be a great mentor for BOB for a year or 2.

Geez don't get Roloson. It's bad enough my team hasn't beaten Philly in regulation this decade. Adding Roloson would be insult to injury. Besides what do you need Roloson for when my team will give up Dipietro for FREE?:D:

From all of the early articles that I've read so far, it seems Homer is intent on Bob being "the guy" of the future, so to me, that doesn't bode well for us landing a stud goalie for next year. Yes, Boosh and Leighton will probably be tossed and another back up brought in, but it doesn't appear like the guy brought in is supposed to be a savior.

i know its eklund.. but he threw out trading carter to columbus for the 8th overall pick

that'd be interesting i think.. not a great draft this year but the top picks are supposed to be pretty good, and the flyers need any kind of prospect at this point.. plus you clear the whole 5.25mil.. i think i'd like it

thoughts?

Morganti was reporting that BOB could be included in a deal to dump salary since Bryz is most likely to get anywhere between 3-6 years. Dont know how I feel about that. I would like him to be in the AHL this year to play 50+ games and continue to develop. I dont think Bryz will command 5+. I think 5 is the max but we'll see.

And to respond to Awaz. I dont know anything about this years draft at all. Would like a prospect and the 8th pick if possible. I feel like Carter could get more then just the 8th overall.
