i agree.. his fiasco with the media is ridiculous.. you're a professional athlete in philly, you're going to take some heat.. but if you lead like you did in last year's playoffs, the city will love you..

i think this team has too much personality on it.. you have/had the older guys like pronger/timo/OD that wanted to win at all costs and really put the clamps down on hockey

and you have richards/carter who wanted to party it up.. i've said it 1000 times, this team will not be consistent until one of carter or richards is traded.. i just don't think they are good leaders.. they get complacent, they get bored, they stop playing for stretches..

i think it speaks volumes that richards can be mentioned as a trade possibility and there's no talk of lavy being fired.. but i think thats the right route

I don't think Richards is going any where. I think Lavi would be the first to go. I don't buy into a lot of this stuff with Richards because the players on the team respect. Kimmo always says good stuff about him and he generally doesn't beat around the bush.

With that said, I don't know what to think of all this. I'm starting to think that the Flyers should not have made him the captain. I don't think he ever wanted it to begin with. They kind of forced it on him...expecting him to be the next Bobby Clarke. He hates the media scrutiny and all that crap that goes with it. It's obvious that the players on the team like him and respect him. He does a good job of quietly leading and encouraging guys and leading by example. He doesn't need to be captain to do those things. The thing is it is too late to strip him of the C. I have no idea what they should do about this. I wish I knew exactly what it is that Lavy and Richards don't see eye to eye on. I remember earlier in the year when mad players were salty with Laviolette for switching up the lines and PP units every other game. Leino, Richards, and a few other guys were some of the guys who were speaking out. It'll be interesting to see what happens. I don't think Richards or Laviolette are leaving so hopefully it gets figured out. You can tell Laviolette is trying to peace it up in the article and not cause any trouble.

I feel like it's still too early for me to pass serious judgement on any of this. I continue to be completely disgusted with what went down in the semifinals and that leads to over the top ideas that don't exactly make much sense when properly thought out.

That's commonplace, really. No worries...lol I'm the one that's odd for squelching my frustrations.

I'm just going to try to sit back and enjoy what has really still been an extremely exciting playoff season to watch. I've missed far too many of the great games out west. That changes tonight. It promises to be a thriller.

I personally feel it's time for Snider to get a hell of a lot more involved in his team.
The goalie situation has been going on for years.Get a gm that can make it happen.
As for the captaincy situation,I too feel they put it on Richards too early, but would look idiotic at this point giving it to someone else.

Teams should not be boasting that a draft pick "is future captain material".This is also going on with Matt Duchene.Let the guy earn it,and don't give it away to someone as a means to keep him on your team.

I think Homer has made some decent deals since he's been gm,but a #1 proven starter has to be the priority this summer.

So, is there a fan riot if Homler fails to sign a proven goalie this off-season?

Just curious. From an outsiders perspective, its the same Achilles heel that has nailed you to the wall for a decade now, or do you folks care?

We care, but my concern is that after all this time we finally have two young goalies who could be stars one day. If just one of them pans out I will be happy. I just don't want to give up to much or pay to much for a goalie and then have a decent goalie go to waste.

getting a franchise goalie is alot easier if you have one of two realities:

1. you tank for 3-5 seasons in a row and get a no. 1 pick for several years running.

2. you rebuild the team via a fire sale and create tons of cap room then over pay to get your man.

holmer and clarke have never had the luxury of this reality. they have always been hamstrung by the cap or the perception of being max'd out before the cap. this reality has forced us into taking chances on lesser goalies. maddening simple problem when you really think about it.

if we got rid of richards and carter both we could prob get a great goalie. how do you think that would go over?

we don't need to get rid of both of those guys to get a good goalie, just 1

LOOk goalies aside............The Flyers lacked everything else too!!! I mean yes our goalies sucked but so did the entire club against Boston!

I'm not sold on BOB or Eriksson...lets get a goalie who has more Rep power then Jersey!

i worry about bryz.. he's a headcase.. i really hope thats not the route the flyers are looking at.. vokoun will cost less and he's a better goalie IMO

bryz is a headcase, will be more expensive, and as the article says he probably wont be a good mentor for bob.. i dont understand how he's the perfect fit?
