I just think this organization likes Carter too much to trade him.

I agree. That's why I believe Hartnell will be the one to go. Money needs to be made available. Holmgren must sign or acquire a goalie if this team is going to win a Stanley Cup. We all know what they need. Holmgren needs to find a way to make it happen.

Somebody would take him. He is the first player that Homer should get rid of this summer, imo.

yeah i think at this point the organization has no choice but to move one of carter hartnell or carle. all big salaried guys. i wouldn't mind seeing hartnell go but we need to really get a big gritty forward to get those garbage goals, cause he only gets them 50% of the time hes supposed to. i also would love to see carter go. like i said, they play better without him and it allows G and briere to become natural centers and stay that way. if carter goes we have a lot more flexibility in net and then we can go out and maybe get a 2-3 mil type of forward who's good for 18-20 goals. wouldnt be bad.

I'd bet ******** would waive his no trade clause and if I was Homer, I'd have my boys set up a meeting with his boys asap if not sooner and let it be known immediately that the club wants him gone at almost any cost. That way ********'s boys are out there all summer selling their meal ticket as an asset worth trading for thus speeding up the process.

{ Excellent thread Awaz. I have a feeling that this one will reach 5k by October. lol :) }

I'll adding to this one many many times for sure...

Disagree. Given the choice, I'd try to trade Carter first. Hartnell is very effective when he stops taking stupid penalties, which he did this season. Carter just doesn't fit this team at all -- he never has. Plus, he's 10x more trade-able than Hartnell.

I feel like down this final stretch Hartnell wad doing stupid stuff after every play. I was scared he was just going to take a bonehead penalty of somesort.

Agree about Carter. I dontt hink he really fits here and he is more tradeable.

carter is more trade-able than hartnell.. i dont even think there's really a discussion.. carter at 5.25 is a steal compared to hartnell at 4.2.. carter has a much bigger upside and doesn't have a NMC.. hartnell's got the NMC.. so IMO carter is the more trade-able one..

however, i think the team would benefit more from moving hartnell than from moving carter.. as long as they bring in size in the off-season*.. carter is the better player and a lot of goals would go if they traded him, so i would rather clear space going a different route, i just don't know if they can

*i think we saw up close and personal how not-that-physical this years edition of the flyers was.. they got pushed around by the bruins, there's no other way to say it.. richards, carcillo, hartnell, and giroux might throw their bodies around, but they really aren't big guys.. the flyers need size and brawn this summer, i dont think its a question

oh man. didn't even think/see that. that is troublesome. however, my plan still works out ok :)

Waive Shitty, but there goes another winger.

Lappy is +35, unless I missed something. Double fuck.

just thought more on this.. he'd be on LTI so his hit wouldn't effect the cap.. just the roster size :crutch:

I don't think Hartnell is effective at all. The guy can barely skate. He's supposed to be the big banger in front of the net who picks up all of the garbage goals. That's what Knuble did for the team and Hartnell completely fails at it. If we get rid of Hartnell and pick a true Knuble like player it will help the PP and the overall team immensely.

i have never been a big hater of hartnell. never been a big defender of him either. but when he did his classic fall and take the net with him that cost us that goal i went apeshit. that being said if u force him to take away his NMC his value is going to go way down, as you would expect him to have some sort of say where he is going. i wouldnt mind seeing both carter and hartnell go. break up the boys that party too much in old city. richie is being brought down by those ed hardy wearing dooshies.

we should have never let knuble go in the first place :pout:

ha easy to say, but when he was a free agent he got a 2.5 mil contract and we had about .5 mil in space haha

i think that the flyers should look long and hard at resigning zherdev. i know theres probably a .001% chance that hes back, but i really think its important to bring him back.
he put up 16 goals getting 3rd/4th line minutes and hardly ever saw PP time. and half the season his linemates were guys like powe, betts, shelley, nodl..meaning many of those 16 goals he scored on pure skill alone. i really feel that hes a changed man and has stepped back and understood what needs to be done.

i think he had a great playoffs, he only had 1 goal, 3 points, but looking at this team's offense in the playoffs, that ain't too bad haha. plus i really felt he was playing hard, hustling, backchecking, etc.

if you lose zherdev, you are pretty much letting guys like nodl take top 9 spots on the wings. the team will need some wingers this offseason, cause as it stands... hartnell, shelley, versteeg, and JVR are the only ones signed. aside from JVR, ouch, we look like the pittsburgh penguins on the wing.

i dont disagree with this at all.. i think zherdev has earned a spot on the roster.. however, i dont see them offering a contract, mostly because lava doesn't like him..

i do think he could be had for cheap.. i'd say around the same 2 mil tops.. i'd definitely think about bringing Z back at 2 mill.. i dont think the flyers will though

interesting stuff from panotch..

HockeyBuzz.com - Tim Panaccio - Pronger's Back; Lavy's Relationship with Richards

Laviolette still building trust with captain Richards

thinks richards isn't the untouchable that we all think he is.. interesting..

the fact he is never 'available' for questioning bothers me. i don't get him anymore, i understand he is not the typical guy in front of the camera, but if he is honestly miserable then that has a tremendously negative effect on the team. the fact him and lavy after 2 years don't have a solid relationship says A LOT about why this team looks different game in and game out.

i agree.. his fiasco with the media is ridiculous.. you're a professional athlete in philly, you're going to take some heat.. but if you lead like you did in last year's playoffs, the city will love you..

i think this team has too much personality on it.. you have/had the older guys like pronger/timo/OD that wanted to win at all costs and really put the clamps down on hockey

and you have richards/carter who wanted to party it up.. i've said it 1000 times, this team will not be consistent until one of carter or richards is traded.. i just don't think they are good leaders.. they get complacent, they get bored, they stop playing for stretches..

i think it speaks volumes that richards can be mentioned as a trade possibility and there's no talk of lavy being fired.. but i think thats the right route

100% agree, its about time they hold the players accountable. one of the 2 drinking buddies needs to go. preferably not richards since i own his jersey ha.
