League revenues were up for the 7th straight year. A lot of teams have more money to spend on FAs. Jmil says 5mil is the new 4mil.
It looks that way and soon the league is gonna be back in trouble with revenue and then blame the players and the owners are the ones throwing nmoney around like its nothing

The league is doing very well money wise. The one thing I will say though is that the players in the NHL make out very well in regards to the revenue sharing in comparison to the other major sports leagues in North America.
Well, they started meeting yesterday on the CBA (Hartnell was one of the player reps, btw). Looks like the league office gave their initial presentation, which I guess just laid out where they think things stand financially.

that's all the owners hav to go on though.. the players took a 26% paycut, accepted a salary cap, and lost a season, last time.. revenues are up for the 7th consecutive year (thanks JM), the cap went up 7 mil as a result, a "small market team" in the shape of the Wild spent 200 mil on 2 players, after the pens spent 100+ on 1 player, which is after the devils (another small market) tried to spend 100+ on 1 player a couple years ago.. the hurricanes (small market) gave a guy 60 mil and he's been a 3rd line center his whole career.. the NHL signed a record TV deal last summer
i just dont see what the owners can say..

Tough guy Tom Sestito, a restricted free agent as of 20 minutes ago, has signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. The deal was announced by his agent Scott Norton. Financial terms were not disclosed, but his qualifying offer was at least $660,000. It's almost definitely a two-way deal.
looks like its 605k, 2-way deal
i like it. i like what sestito brought in his few games this season
Guess I am in the minority, but I wish we would have a Sestito/Rinaldo/Shelley-less team next year.
Im all for the players making the money because i dont go to games to watch owners score goals.
I forget what game it was, but he, Rinaldo and maybe Harry Z had some crazy # like 12 hits on 1 shift. I had never seen that much hitting on 1 shift in my life. He really isn't a bad option for enforcer. What does this mean for Shelley?
