I don't think that Fisher was ever going to have him start on day one to begin with. I think that the job was always going to be Keenum's barring injury. Like @Vitamike said, he's not ready but he definitely has improved. He started out slow again last week but he did get a lot better and that's all I want to see is improvement from week to week.

Why wouldn't Fisher expect him to start? You don't give up that much in a draft to move up to get a QB when you don't have a leget starting QB on the roster and not expect him to start? Hell they would have been better off staying put and drafting Paxton Lynch and saving all those draft picks if they were expecting to start Case. Lynch has more upside imo.

He didn't expect him to start because it was a completely different playbook compared to what he's used to. There's a lot of new plays that he's got to get into his head and figure out how to execute. You're not going to send a guy out there that's not ready, especially with how lackluster the offensive line has been over the years. If they did, he could end up taking a beating like Tannehill has in Miami or like David Carr did when he was in Houston, which I believe ruined his career. Now I agree, I wasn't a fan of trading away all that we did to get the chance to draft him. I would've much rather have stayed at 15 or traded back for more picks since there were plenty of needs that had to be addressed. But right now, things are the way they are and that is with Case as the placeholder until the coaching staff thinks Goff is ready to go. No need to get him beat up early, along with potentially losing confidence because he was thrown to the wolves before he was ready.

1. While Case may not be a franchise QB he is proving himself as a legit game manager starter. Heck, he probably takes Denver to the Superbowl if he were to start for them.

2. The Rams are not in a position where they are heavily dependent on the QB at this point and time. They are built to run the ball, control the clock, play at a high level on defense and play the field position game. So why throw him to the wolves if he is not ready? (BTW-It's not a skill issue, it's learning the system, reading NFL defenses, learning how to play behind center and call the plays in the huddle)

^^THIS^^

I wanted to go for Lynch. (Who would have been available) or see what we had in Sean.

I hear Lynch is doing so well in Denver that there is talk of him taking the No. 2 spot and cutting Sanchez.

Well that's my point... If Fisher really didn't expect Goff to beat out Case lol they should have stayed at 15 and picked Lynch with the more upside and the ability to be a running threat with TG. I'm not buying for a second they didn't expect Goff not to start giving up so much in the draft.

At what timeline?

Like I said earlier, I think he starts by Game 5 after the first set of Divisional games are played.

Why is it so important to you that Goff start Week 1?

Just because he is was the No. 1 overall?

They drafted him on his talent to be the Franchise QB, not his readiness to start Week 1.

BTW - I do think you are undervaluing Case as a QB in this league. This could be our difference.

They drafted him on his Talent? Well I would think he could come in and beat out Case to start then? I'm not undervaluing Case he is a good back up in the NFL. That's what he has always been. And that's why Fisher gave up so much to move up for a QB. I'm just saying most QB drafted #1 usually start don't they? Especially if you give up so much to move up to get him. Him not starting concerns me on the pick. It's not like he's coming in and trying to beat out Peyton Manning or an established vet.

The Rams came into last year saying we will pound the ball and wear down defenses but that's hard to do in the NFL if the D knows all it has to do is stop the run. That leads to the quick 3 and outs and puts the D back on the field and they eventually get worn down. They need to have some sort consistent passing game imo. And I don't know if Case can do that.

Sure some do but do you want to start off the season like this vs the 49ers?

Last year vs the lowly Titans in Week 1, Jameis Winston threw two picks and was sacked four times completing 48.5 percent of his passes for 210 yards and a passer rating of 64.0.

There's the story of the last No. 1 overall QB to start the season.

You see, even though Winston turns out all right, puts up good numbers and wins the ROY by seasons end, if the Titans had a solid backup to start Week 1 through 6 maybe they get a few more wins and start out 4-2 instead of 2-4, now your in the hunt instead of your season being essentially over before it gets started.

I mean that team quit by Week 12 losing their last 4 straight.

What did we do in our last four?

That's right, went 3-1 with Case Kneenum and nearly took them all.

How much success do those #1 QBs typically have that first season? Sure, there are exceptions like Luck and Russell Wilson, but they are just that, exceptions. Luck played in a pro-style offense at Stafford under pro coaches and Wilson has the ability to pick up new offenses quickly (transferred for his final year in NCAA and still performed very well).

Would you be happy if they rushed Goff into starting and he had one of the seasons below, or would you consider him a bust?

56.7%, 6.5 yds/att, 26 TD, 28 INT, 71.2 rat in 16 games
52.9%, 5.97 yds/att, 9 TD, 18 INT, 55.7 rat in 11 games

BTW - Here are the Game 1 stats for the last 4 No. 1 overall QB picks:

Player........W/L...CMP.....ATT....CMP%.....YDS.....AVG......TD....INT.....QBR
Winston.......L......25......49.....51.1........309......6.87......1......3......33.2
Luck............L......16......33.....48.5........210......6.36......2......2........6.7
Newton........L......24......37.....64.9........422.....11.41.....2......1.......61.8
Bradford......L.......32......55.....58.2........253......4.6.......1......3.......31.1

Cam was and is the anomaly but still took the loss in Week 1.

We have a great chance to beat the 9ers in Levi, let's not screw it up by starting the Rookie.

Those 4 QB's started because they won the job in camp out right. Those guys are still starting btw. And that's my point our #1 pick is not winning the starting position which scares me. Not to mention what we gave up to get him. Do you really think Fisher is glad Case is beating him out and he's not going to start? No way they thought that.

So if when Goff starts, are the Rams gonna being a running team with a QB in the shotgun? Cuz the boy hasn't taken 1 snap from behind center.

I watched all of preseason game 1 and 2/3 of game 2. Every snap for Goff that I saw was from the shotgun my man.

Why does it have to be by week 5? I don't care if it's week 12 as long as he learns to PROPERLY take a ball from under center and call plays in the huddle...

Saw this in an article.. Just my usual dose of reality. Trying to stay positive but i can only sit on the sideline while an organization consumes so much kool-aid.

"The quarterback who couldn't beat out Austin Davis or Shaun Hill in 2014 and was a backup to Nick Foles who led the NFL's worst offense for most of last year is now clearly beating out the rookie #1 overall pick the Rams mortgaged most of their future to select."

Bring back Austin Davis
