Patriots are the definition of a 'system' but it's an effective one. I think they bring in very talented QBs but they just let them really absorb the team and system itself before plugging them in. That I guess by definition is a 'system QB' but that's not a bad thing... Tom Brady is EXTREMELY talented and a very good QB.

That said, no doubt he is surrounded by a great coaching/team system. I think the Pats bring in a # of veteran players (more than I see a lot of other teams) because their understanding of NFL concepts/plays/system design is MUCH more fine tuned than rookies/younger guys. They of course supplement this by youth and decent drafting.

IMO the true MVP of the Patriots is Kraft/Belichick. I think Tom Brady is vastly overrated (some calling him the best QB of all time) but still a great QB. That said, I always give a higher nod to the GM/Owner in successful NFL franchises. It wasn't JUST a QB that turned your team around... NBA can get away with it when you draft a Lebron, etc. 5 players vs. 22 (effectively).

It's gotta be the system.

What kind of QB wouldn't have success tossing the ball to David Patten, David Givens, Bethen Johnson, Jabar Gaffney and Brandon Lafell?

Ignorant of me to forget all-pro potential RBs like Jonas Gray, Antowain Smith and Kevin Faulk

They were saying before the season the best case scenario would be the hated Patriots going 2-2 with Garopolo.

Looks like the hated Patriots will do even better than that.

Joe Montana gets punted to KC and the Niners didn't miss a beat with Steve Young.

Because Montana was a system QB.

You know who's happiest to see Brady suspended? Julian Edelman. Not getting blown up trying to pick up balls off his shoelaces is probably going to add a year or two to his career.
You're on a roll today Hammer

Wonder how much Brady offered Kiko Alonso for that hit on Garoppolo. We could ask to see his phone to find out, but he's probably busy smashing it with hammer right about now....

Every QB in the NFL is in a system that best suits there abilities. Holy shit I can't even troll this much. If you want to make a point that may stick it just may show that the Patriots are still cheating some way. Peace.

Tom Brady had an 8.3 YPA and 50 TDs and only took 21 sacks in 2007.
Matt Cassel only had a 7.2 YPA and 21 TDs with 47 sacks in 2008.

I wonder just how good Cassel could have been if his teammates gave him as much support as they gave Brady in the previous year.

Only problem with Cassell in 2008 - he would help beat the teams the Patriots were expected to beat, but lost to playoff teams. Hence the 2008 Patiots went 11-5 and missed the playoffs, losing every conceivable tiebeaker.

I thought Cassell scored 200 points less , 29 less td's , won 7 games less than 07, and missed the playoffs, my bad he shined:L. Garopollo has been outstanding the first 2 games, way better tha I could have expected
Belichick knows which QB's to draft.
