Expectations were far higher than a 7th seed and first round exit for both, so in that way they were similarly disappointing.

That point was before AD got hurt again, and had he not, they could very well still be alive.

Both seasons, regardless of where the teams were predicted to finish, were derailed by injuries. Both are disappointing for that reason, but you also can't exactly call either season a failure. A failure would be if they were completely healthy and didn't live up to expectations. That didn't happen in either case.

Nah. they're both failures. Celtics and Lakers own so many of the available championships that they are always expected to go deeper than the first round, regardless of common sense thinking. Haters need that release to laugh at them, since they won't get the release of actually winning a championship 99% of the time. It will just end up being another team you learn to hate, like Brooklyn.
