Let's just say that Bo is done at Nebraska. Whether it is by choice or by force doesn't matter. Does anyone have faith in Eichorst to hire what is hopefully the right guy. This is a guy that has only hired 1 head coach in his AD career and that was the basketball coach at Miami. Sure he may have sat in on meetings as an associate AD to hire coaches but it is different when you are "the guy".

Does anyone have faith in Eichorst?

I also have no idea what it would take to be a qualified AD, and just kinda hoping for the best

That's the thing. He is such an unknown. He never talks and track record is small so no one can get a gauge as to his thinking process.

I agree, just hoping for the best.

Yeah, hiring coaches is a total crapshoot but having someone that has been around the block with selling a program and hiring multiple head coaches in various sports is much more calming however so slightly.

I'll keep the faith.

I could be naïve here, but it seems like such a simple task to me.

Keep in mind he'll be competing with Florida and likely Michigan.

They'll be paying +$4 million.

I have absolutely no confidence in Eichorst. My personal lean is that he does not like to face problems head on. Whether that creates a laxidaisical or a passive agressive leader I don't like either. Add in that he does not appear to understand, support or care in the least about Nebraska traditions and then the fiasco last year of having a coach who everyone nationwide knew was gone and having that said coach basically flip him off and dare him to take a stand and then he comes out and says that he is happy with him and there is no reason anyone should of thought he was not.
That is what I refer to as not wanting to face problems. I right now fear that Nebraska may very well be at the lowest point I remember in my 54 years on this earth.
Yes that means I fear this may get worse than Pederson's coupe upon UNL tradition.

I don't think Nebraska is looking at the same candidate pool as Florida and Michigan. Both FL and MI get talent easily because of their recruiting bases, but here at Nebraska, we need to find someone that has done more with less talented players. Someone that has actually developed a player into more than what they were as a freshmen.

Look at how Ott at Iowa developed, I've never seen one D-lineman develop under Bo the way that kid did at Iowa. Same thing for O-linemen, our guys just don't seem to get bigger and stronger and better, Moudy, Sterup, Pelini, Cotton, none of these guys look better this year than they did last year. Our O-line his half the problem as they can't protect on passing plays and seem to be missing a lot on running plays.

I think Eichorst had reason to be at least somewhat optimistic after the Iowa game last season. Optimistic enough to see another season through.

Bo had an excuse that had to be given consideration. That the team was young on both sides of the ball, and the O-Line had taken an all-american level hit. Beck was also a relative noob as OC (3 years) and had to play a R/S freshman and a walk-on.

I even considered it myself regarding the situation. I'd then remember why I threw in the towel on Bo back in January 2012.

Nebraska's not good up-front on either side of the ball when they play a 9 win or better type teams. He can't not know this. They're about 50% on the 8 win type teams. They control 7 wins or less type teams.

It could be technique or strength. It's one of those, or even both.

No coach can overcome that. The first and potentially only change/s that need to be made, needs to be made up-front.

Strength and Conditioning, O-Line coach, D-Line coach?

It's what Eichorst needs to look for when giving Bo his evaluation. If I were Eichorst, I wouldn't come out and directly ask Bo about it. I would sit down and talk about the program and give Bo the opportunity to acknowledge the issues there and his plan to fix it. The how honest is Bo test?

If Bo doesn't offer a viable solution for a coaching replacement of at least one of those positions, then Eichorst will have what he needs to justify letting Bo go.

I am sure the money offered will dictate how good of coach we get. The ginger has mentors
like Alvarez and Oz (oh crap) to help him out. I'll sit the fence on this as it could go either way. And a win at Iowa kills the topic as we could get to 10 wins this year. HISEC you and I are close in age and saw the 70's & 80's when OZ couldn't win the big one or two or three so you know if Oz is brought in to talk to boosters, he could talk them off the ledge - unless an ultimatum has been given to Bo already - sorry another long rant that most of you will ignore.
