So a swing and a miss on a first round pick and folks still have a job?

makes you feel all fuzzy and warm heading into this years draft

I heard that they want to trade Dillard, and get another high pick. I'm OK with that. He's just not a big, strong, tough guy. Typical PAC10 player.

Despite 2017 Howie has been a significant “swing and miss “ GM. His forte is numbers and he has messed that up recently with all his re-structuring.

They will still have to move up to get Lamb. He won't make it to #21.

“I could get on board with this being a plan if he drops out of the top ten.
At the same time....its a WR heavy draft....let it come to you.”

Who are the best available round 1 corners? I'd be fine with an Aiyuk or a Dovernay plus a top cover cover guy. Plus Shenault could fall as well. They can't all go round 1. If Qbs, lineman, and wrs start flying off the board, that would push some good cornerbacks down no?

That's what I'm talking about you take this kid in the first round and you can't develop him, that's a glaring issue

Barring any moves up, as of now, I think Justin Jefferson will be our pick. we still need a speed receiver, as Jefferson is more a slot receiver.

But Arcega-Whiteside is our slot guy or so that’s what they drafted him for.

Well then, if Whiteside develops, Jefferson goes outside.

But did they? I never got the read they got JJAW for the slot. They got him to work into Alshons spot eventually as the tall possession type guy.

Or at least that has always been my read.

Saw this in McShays mock today. I would be ok with this if some other guys are off the board by that point. Slot guy, yes. But 4.39 out of the slot is not so bad.

Really good Kist and Solak podcast out today on BGN....they talk at really good depth about WR draft options (spoiler.....they make a pretty good case to trade down if WR with your first pick is absolutely a thing)....as well as CB options. Great insight

I googled a little on what he wants and didn’t see it. How much does he want?

Also, who the fuck cares how much he wants? He will get what the market will bear. Sportstrac has that at $14.1M per. Honestly, I believe that’s a lot of money to chance on any non QB, but it is what it is.

So let’s say it takes something like 4 yrs $55-60M. Who feels good about getting Jones at that price over a plan B? Honestly....I am at this point.

Too much (17M). Would limit ability to sign other players. That just doesn’t work for me as a business person nor as a fan.

No disagreement. But that is what he wants. Not what market will bear. Not 17 and 14 per is not much different. So question remains the same....would you sign up for 4 yrs 55-60M?

Assuredly while Howie can’t draft for shit he could write this deal and still have money for another contributor or two this offseason.

15m/5 YRS, - 75m total - 45M guaranteed. We're not going to get him for any less. If we don't get him, we go for Kendall Fuller, who is cheaper, but not as good. Which do you want? In free agency, it costs money. Pay up, or take chances on draft picks.

No, not in on Jones. I would sign a 2nd tier guy like Harris etc and roll the dice on the draft.
