I don't think many of the Rivercats are in the Giants' future, save for Avelino and a couple of pitchers, maybe. But this is as close to a playoff game as we will get in a while.

You are right about the lack of top tier prospects. There are 5 guys on the roster who are also on the 40 man roster - Melvin Adon, Ricardo Pinto, Abiatal Avelino, Mike Gerber and Joe McCarthy. I figure that at least the two pitchers and Avelino get the nod after the postseason is over. Not so sure about the outfielders.
Outside of the 40 man roster, I think the guys to most watch are Tyler Cyr, Sam Wolff and maybe Ryan Howard.

Heyward looked good tonight, and he’s headed for the AFL.

RCats won 4-2 tonight. Chase Johnson looked great until the 6th and seemed to run out of gas. He was throwing 96 on the radar.

Adames drove in all the Sacramento runs I think. Or at least three. Avelino looked very good. Solid at bats and smooth fielding. Winkler was flat out bad. Lots of 28-29 year olds on this team. They are up 2-0 in a best of five. What could go wrong?

Congrats to the Rivercats for winning the PCL Championship. Evidently, the last Giants' AAA team to win the PCL Championship was 1977 when Phoenix won.

And with a roster mainly comprised of AA and single A players for that series too. Avelino and Venditte are the only ones who played most of the season with Sacramento.

The Arizona Fall League opened today (9/18).

Scottsdale won 5-4

Bart was 2-4 with 2 runs scored, 3 RBI's, and 2 homers!

Ramos was 1-4

Tristan Beck pitched 2 innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 walks, struck out 2, and allowed 1 run.

2 sweet: Bart goes deep twice in AFL debut

Ramos was 0-4 with an RBI

Bart was 2-3 with an RBI and 2 walks.

Rubio pitched one inning, gave up 2 hits, one run, and got the save.

Schimpf was the only Giant to play. He pitched 1.2 innings, gave up 2 runs on 3 hits, and 2 strikeouts.

Rubio threw 0.2 innings and gave up a hit and no runs. That hit allowed 2 of 3 inherited runners to score.
