Jairo Pomares so far this season in AA:
.258 AVG
.824 OPS
5 HR (11 XBH)
10% BB%
23% K%
134 wRC+

He had a 104 wRC+ in 336 PA in AA last season and has taken a big step forward in 2025. Get that man to Sacramento.
Nice to see him produce. He was a rather high-ish international FA signing.

From what I remember of last year, Pomares started strong with Richmond last year and faded badly. I wonder if the Giants' brass will want to see him do be more consistent before bumping him to AAA. However, I don't see why Johnson needed to be signed when Pomares does seem ready for AAA.

Carson Whisenhunt completed 7 innings for the 2nd straight start.Good start overall. 2 solo home runs allowed. 1 was on a missed location, the other was a good swing by the opposing hitter.

Something is up with Wade Meckler. He has supposedly been on the RiverCats' active roster since the AAA season began but he has only appeared in 2 games, one of which was a DH appearance and the other was a start in right field. He is hitting 3 for 5 with a double, 2 stolen bases and 2 walks but hasn't appeared in a game since March 29th.

Hurt his neck diving for a ball in early March...might be that.

Could be but that was early March, during spring training. Maybe it flared up after two games but it seems weird the RiverCats wouldn't put him on the 7 day IL. At least, their website doesn't show him on the IL.

Defensively, the two primary catchers in Eugene are showing a stark contrast on the running game. Onil Perez and Luke Shliger have caught all but 17 innings for the Emeralds this season (Jack Payton has caught the remaining innings but is playing more 1st base so far). These two have split time behind the dish fairly evenly (Perez has the slight edge at 128 IP compared to Shliger's 123.1 IP) but there is nothing even about the running game shutdown - Perez has thrown out only 3 of 28 attempted thefts (11%) while Shliger has gunned down 7 of 17 attempts (41%). Ouch! At least Perez is outhitt . . . never mind. Perez has a .630 OPS compared to Shliger's .752.
