Sure. But he won't be starting against Toronto on Monday.
Further backing my claim that they will make the change after the TOR game.

In San Jose, Duggar hit a game winning 2-run triple in the 8th. The ball hit the outside of the chalk line. Lake Elsinore was NOT happy with the call. The pitcher and the manager were ejected from the game.
There was also some bad blood between these teams when they played each other last week, players meet on the field and almost fought. Expecting more heated games, but hopefully no one gets hurt. When teams are got like this it can get ugly.
I noticed that the Cal League only has two umpires per game. Behind the plate and in the field. That's nuts at this level.
I noticed that Vin Mazzaro is already listed back on the River Cats' roster (unless they forgot to remove him when he was purchased by SF last week, which is unlikely because that roster gets updated very quickly). I find that interesting because he was dfa'd last Friday but I thought, from what Marco shared, that teams usually have 10 days to make a determination on what to do with a player and that a player with at least 6 minor league seasons and/or has been dfa'd before (which I believe is almost certain for Mazzaro) that the player can elect free agency. I understand that Mazzaro may want to stick around, given the uncertain nature of the bullpen, but I would think the Giants would have to take the full 10 days to make a decision on where he should go.
Thanks Marco. I couldn't tell from how I read it so I assumed the 10 days is required, no more no less. And yes, I typed minor when it was supposed to be major.1) The team has 10 days available, but isn't required to wait. Once the player clears waivers, he can be outrighted to the minors.
2) A player who has already been outrighted, or has 3 years of major league service time, can refuse assignment (it has nothing to do with minor league experience). (Mazzaro was outrighted by the Marlins last June, BTW.)
All that being said, the Rivercats may have jumped the gun a bit.
Just noticed Welker on BBRef:Nice to see Chris Heston pitch a good game. And Duke Welker may become a dark horse candidate for the bullpen if he can continue games like this (5 Ks in 2 innings).
Welker is definitely a reclamation project but its worked (at least briefly) before.Just noticed Welker on BBRef:

Sadly, he's 30 years old. But if he can do the job now, great.
Kontos has pitched in two games, with no ER.
Tyler Rogers in AA has 13.2 IP, and no ER.
