He did his top 50 prospect list, Bryce is #22 (up from #29 last year)

He mentions a risk, the kid may be too tall to be truly great

I’d say this is about what I expected from Eldridge in his first real go-round in Double A: He’s hitting for average and power but is striking out at a higher rate than you’d like from a prospect of his caliber. He’s 6-7, so his strike zone is huge, and we haven’t seen many hitters that size succeed in MLB history because of the inherent contact issues. Eldridge was hitting .294/.363/.510 in 28 games with a 27.4 percent strikeout rate through Sunday, although there’s good news within there, as he’s continued to improve in all aspects of his performance as the season has progressed, and that could be meaningful because he missed much of spring training and part of April with a wrist injury.

That’s a silly comment by Law. Isn’t Aaron Judge 6’7? Last I heard he was pretty good
Name 10 hitters all time who were REALLY good.

Judge, Winfield, Thomas…. These guys were the extreme exception to the rule that “giant” men just don’t end up being great baseball players.

Not zero. There have been maybe 3 like cal said. It's an issue as his strikeouts show

Frank Howard was pretty good. Stanton had been solid and he's like 6'6

Honestly they're aren't that many really tall dudes who play baseball that aren't pitchers lol

For the exact reason it's a concern. It's an advantage for a pitcher (leverage, arm angles), a disadvantage for a hitter (huge strike zone to cover)

You have to consider that the field to choose from is pretty small considering only 0.001% of the population is 6’7” or above

It does make for a huge strike zone. I think the team should give him every opportunity though because the current lineup has no one that the opposition has to be concerned with. I’m amazed they win as much as they do

You guys are burying the lede here:

Dude is "improving all aspects of his performance."

I take this to mean that his defense is getting better. That's the last thing for him. He can hit in Richmond; he's going to KILL in Sac.

Similar to Luciano, his bat does not concern me. It is all about D. And this kid strikes me as a real athlete, so I trust his D will come around relatively quickly. Especially with guys like Will and JT giving him personal one-on-one time.

While I will be surprised to see him in SF this year, I would not be SHOCKED.

Going to interesting to see how the Giants manage this situation. I was living in NY at the time Strawberry was called up to the majors. Very similar profiles here. Both have immense potential. Both are tauted as the future for the franchise. Both are both very tall. Strawberry was 6'6". Both are considered major power hitters.
Both players had/will have immense pressure and expectations placed on them. The pressure almost was too much for Strawberry. He struggled quite a bit in the beginning. It was questioned quite a bit if he was brought up too early.

He fell into issues with both drugs and alcohol. Took him some time to get himself back on track. Not an easy task for a young kid who had to try and live up to everyone's expectations. Eldridge will also face some similar expectations. Just hope the Giants handle the situation carefully. Took the Mets awhile to sort things out ..

Personality-wise, Eldridge kinda strikes me as more of a Bryce Harper than a Darryl Strawberry. He seems to be VERY confident in his abilities (almost abrasively so), but very serious at the same time. Almost like a Bumgarner.

Sure, but is he a MOS? (Master of Snotrockets)
