Andrew Suarez: 30/3 K/BB ratio this season. His off-speed is straight filthy; slider, changeup, curveball. Going back to last season, he has a 2.40 ERA in 37 innings, with a 46/5 K/BB ratio, sub-1 WHIP in San Jose. And in the playoffs, he had a 3.00 ERA with a 7/1 K/BB ratio.

He's just way to advanced for the CAL League, I don't think he is going to last long here. Mejia looks primed for AAA and Suarez could take his spot.

Grant Watson went for a 6IP, 3H, 0R/ER, 1BB, 9K game today. It was his first walk of the season. 0.92 ERA, 19/1 K/BB ratio so far. I think Watson is more likely to move up to San Jose before Bickford. His game more emulates what Suarez does, and he doesn't really need to be in Augusta right now.

In the next couple weeks, I could see some minor league shifting start to happen.

Blackburn to SF, Mejia and/or Gregorio to Sac, Suarez to Richmond, Grant Watson to San Jose.

Dunning isn't on the 40 so no DFA. He would just be released, but he stunk last year and they brought him back. The Giants have amazing patience for veteran minor league relief pitchers in AAA.

I hope we give Heston a shot over Blackburn, at least initially. Heston has ML experience and was effective.

I trust he will. Blackburn has a higher ceiling, but Heston has the track record.

Main prob with Blackburn, though, is that he has no "stuff". The Giants will definitely be holding some live auditions this year, that is for sure. And if they are still in the hunt come July, I can see them making an add to the rotation AND to the pen. That is still a ways away, though.

Blackburn must have pinpoint control to be effective whereas Heston is more explosive. Another reason I prefer Heston.

I just say Blackburn because if this were to happen in Peavy's next start, I don't think Heston is ready for the innings. As it is, seems like Peavy is getting more time.

PV gets five more starts IMO. They won't make a move prior to the last week in May.

I think if he bombs 3 straight games from now, I would expect Sabean and co. to do SOMETHING. We can't have both Cain and PV bombing games back to back with every outing and 20 mil per for the next couple seasons says that Cain ain't going anywhere.

Just to be crystal clear, "the next couple seasons" are 2016 and '17 ('18 is a team option year).

He just turned 25. This is his 4th season at San Jose. Maybe he bought a house? :noidea:
Bright side is that we really got Chicago on that trade. Now we got both Soptic AND Gillaspie in the org.

Suckers!
