He's been three years at Richmond. Last year his ERA was about 1.50. I don't know what he has to prove at AA. Meanwhile, our AAA bullpen is inhabited by 30+ year olds. :noidea:
I know its a minor quibble, but these seem to happen every year, and most of those 30 year olds don't pan out. How about take a flyer in a guy already in your system. Casilla over Lara.

I just saw Gustavo Cabrera went on the DL. Does anyone know anything about this?

Oh man. I hadn't heard about this.

The injury was soooo gruesome, it is such a long shot for him to make it. Last year, he hurt his hammy which cost him the season. I can only assume that that was at least slightly due to his hand issue (time on the shelf caused him to stiffen up?). No idea what the root of this DL stint is, but you gotta believe that it has to start killing the kid emotionally.

I am nit that familiar with the details of minor league DLs, but I do see that he is just on the 7-day DL. Hopefully that means it is just a minor thing...

cal, I believe that the 7-day DL is the minor league equivalent of MLB's 15-day DL. Anytime I see a minor league players on the DL, it is listed as 7-day.

That's what if inured. But my main "confusion" is that I am not sure if there is an equivalent to a 60-day DL.

If someone loses his leg in a shark attack, is he still listed on the 7-day?

From the Augusta Greenjackets website.

April 27, 2016 Augusta GreenJackets placed CF Gustavo Cabrera on the 7-day disabled list.
April 18, 2016 Augusta GreenJackets activated CF Gustavo Cabrera from the 7-day disabled list.
April 7, 2016 Augusta GreenJackets placed CF Gustavo Cabrera on the 7-day disabled list.

Looks like there is something lingering, he's been on the 7-day twice in April.

Hope the kid recovers and plays well. If not, then I hope the kid recovers and has a "normal" life. Just thinking of that injury is going to give me nightmares for another week, thankyouverymuch for bringing it up. Again.

In San Jose, Jebavy was hit in the back of the helmet with a pitch, but was alright. Still finished the game.

Monster game by Bickford. GREAT to see!! Let's hope he rises like Bum did (minus his slight hiccup in Connecticut.) He could be something special. Also, early indications that Cyr could be this years Blackburn (late-ish rounder who explodes into a legit SP prospect).

I especially like his K/BB rate. He's walked only 4 in 20+ innings, and K'ed 33. I hate walks.

Meanwhile, Crick has pitched 15 innings so far, and walked 12. Wonder if he can hit and field? Pitching does not seem to be his forte.

I am also liking what I am seeing in Slania at Richmond.

Yea. Such a shame about Crick. He was supposedly the reason the organization saw Wheeler as expendable. Well, even SabeySabes can make a mistake from time to time.

There is no minor-league equivalent to the 60-day DL. Placing a major-leaguer on the 15-day, or a minor-leaguer on the 7-day removes him from his current team's 'active roster', making room for another player on said roster. The *reason* for the 60-day DL is to temporarily remove a guy from the 40-man roster, to make room for somebody else. If a team needs to do that, the player is promoted to the majors, and then immediately put on the 60-day DL (and he makes major-league minimum, and earns service time, while on the 60-day DL).
