It is amazing how differently we view prospects compared to the professionals sometime. That is humbling, and more than anything SHOULD remind us that no matter how much we may (think we) know, we dont know jack.
Thomas didn’t show much with the bat so I am not surprised that he is gone.

We dont suck enough to get good prospects and we are too bad to do anything worthwhile. We need a total rebuild and trade for prospects like the White Sox just did. They at least now have potential in the future instead of just being constantly slightly below average

The exact order in the MLB draft doesn’t matter that much. Posey was drafted #5, Trout was drafted #25, Bart was drafted #2

In the MiLB phase of the Rule 5 draft, the #SFGiants lost:
P Wil Jensen (Cubs)
OF Cesar Quintas (Mariners)
P Julio Rodriguez (Astros)
IF Will Wilson (Guardians)
1B/C Andy Thomas (Padres)
P Nick Swiney (Astros)

They added P CJ Widger (Padres) and Sadrac Franco (Tigers)

Absolutely none of those guys will be missed. Wilson was a swing and a huge miss in a trade with the Angels. Thomas went to the AFL a few years ago and all he did was walk. No hitting. Mediocre to poor defense. Swiney showed some early promise but just wilted as he moved up the chain. This year he had a 5.25 in Richmond, which is usually a pitcher friendly place! Jensen showed real promise early, too. But he's 27 and has only had a cuppo in Sacramento. Decent control and WHIP. Needs a change of scenery. Best of luck to the young guys, still chasing the dream.

Has any of the draft 5 players that we have lost ever produced for other teams?

They are all minor leaguers and have not played in the big leagues. Most of them were fringe prospects but none have done well recently, except maybe Jensen. However, the Giants were not prioritizing him, considering his age and how he performed in the minor leagues.

It is very rare the Rule V players “hit”.

There are some BIG outliers (Clemente, Santana, Uggla), but the VAST majority never amount to anything.

Giants brought Teng and Small back on minor league contracts.
