Two things stick out to me about the scores from today:

1. Tyler Rogers is really starting to stick out in an otherwise thin Richmond bullpen. I would hope he gets the promotion to Sacramento soon as they also seem to have more holes there than I had expected before the season began.

2. Why is Jeff Soptic still around? This is his 4th year in San Jose and he's looking even worse this year. I feel bad for writing this but I do think its time for him to hang it up.

I notice Hinijosa and Agosta. Once upon a time, Agosta was a prospect with some helium. Would be nice if he recaptures some of that. Hinijosa is starting to look like Belt with the bat (in production level, not approach). If he keeps this up much longer, I am not sure what the org does. The org doesn't want to rush anyone, but if a guy insists...

Yeah unfortunately Arroyo isn't doing much for himself in AA right now. Him and Shaw will probably be in San Jose at least until the ASB (which in mid June in A+). After that, we'll see.

3. Gregorio was the scheduled starter for today, but McCormick made the start. Wonder what happened there.

Shaw doesn't have the blockage at AA that Hinojosa does but I do think you are right about both staying in SJ until the Cal League ASB.

I think the Giants would ALMOST prefer these guys slow down their torrid pace. There just isn't any room for either of these guys at the top, so the more time they take to cook, the better.

Both Hinojosa and Shaw can flat out hit.

While Shaw seems a decent fielder, Hinojosa is abysmal. In two seasons in the minors, 79 games, he has 22 errors and a .943 fielding average.

Still, 'tis a nice problem to have, some young guys who can hit.

Miguel Gomez can flat out hit, too, but his fielding is terrible. As a catcher, he has a career .977 FA, 18 errors in 93 games with 12 passed balls. As a 3B he is even worse, with 14 errors in 36 games for a .859 FA. He seems to do better as a 1B, but he hasn't played there much. This season, he's predominantly been a DH for Augusta.

So, what you are saying is that the best defensive position for three of the better hitters in the farm is at designated hitter?

The Giants know how to develope DHs, it seems. I looked at the stats today, and throughout the entire organization for the entire year, they have not committed an error at DH yet.

I think we may have found the new moneyball efficiency...

Hate to burst your bubble, but even I can field the designated hitter spot impeccably. Wait . . . no, that may be a stretch. Nevermind . . . yes, you are right.

Caleb Smith, don't be so smug about that ERA going down. You failed at keeping the inherited runners in check (not an easy proposition with the bags full, I know, but still).

Shaw's homer was off of Hyun-jin Ryu, who was rehabbing for the Dodgers. Pretty cool moment for the kid, especially as a lefty batter coming off a lefty.

I was curious as to the real person and so I looked it up. The name should be very familiar to us - Steve Kline.

We have a few names down there. Todd Linden. Clay Rapada, who pitched in Sacramento last year. Thomas Neal is do some coaching. Randy Winn has been in San Jose doing some work.

Klein started all the way in Salem, I'm pretty sure. At least in Augusta. He's moved up the ladder pretty quickly.
