williams could have easily forced his way out around the 45. so it's either a 57 yarder if it gets spiked, or a 62 yarder. it seems odd to basically guarantee that FG would be made by placing the blame solely on dak.

Good point... but Bailey is money.

Dak (and the Cowboys coaches) did a great job of managing the game and handling the moment. Dak did enough to win this one. He needed a little more help from his skill guys... 2 pretty good passes were dropped for TD's. (admittedly, they were tough catches to make. But this is the NFL.)

Great game, glad the Giants finally pulled one out vs Dallas week 1.

They lined up to spike it and he lined up behind the Guard and couldn't snap the ball. Wow!

I guess you forgot about the WR that decided to stay in bounds instead of running out of bounds. He had a pretty good gane actually. Dallas' o-line didnt play too well either.

If he runs out of bounds they aren't in FG range.

Watch the video:

Giants vs. Cowboys - Game Videos - September 11, 2016 - ESPN

Two things about this last play:

1. Had the WR gone out of bounds, Dallas would have had 10 seconds left on the clock to run another play for a chance to get into field goal range. You can argue that getting the yards was more important, but it wasn't. 10 seconds is more than enough time to run another play and get out of bounds. The WR absolutely should have gotten out of bounds.

2. Look at when the Ref finally puts the ball down and allows the offense to snap the ball. By the time the ball was spotted and the ref got out of the way, there was no time left. Even if Dak was line up wrong, as you claim, it would not have mattered. He could not snap the ball before the ref spotted the ball, which he did with no time left for the offense to do anything.

So you do realize if he runs right out of bounds and not forward Dallas lines up for a 67 yard FG
If you had to choose. Would you prefer a 67 yard field goal attempt. Or Hail Mary attempt. Or the clock running out because a receiver didn't get out of bounds? And cincyfan is rightanyways if he goes out there's time on the clock for another play.I can't blame Dak

That loss was all on Williams

For not going out of bounds to set up... what... a 65-yard FG?

Riiiiiiight.

You've got a rookie QB who was never exactly great to begin with. 5 yards a clip and zero TDs.

Plus you have no defense.

...But it was all Terrence.

I watched the last 5 seconds in super slow motion mode on my TV and the ref didn't spot the ball in time. Dak was lined up behind the guard but was under Center when the ref was spotting the ball.

I was wrong!!

It looks like Williams could've made it out of bounds somewhere between the 45 and 47 yard line, so it would've been between a 62 to 64 yard kick. Bailey has plenty of leg and many professional kickers these days have enough leg to make a 70-yard FG. Heck, there was a high school kicker who made a 67 yard field goal four years ago. The question is the accuracy when you're that far out and not dead center. I give Bailey about a 20-30% chance of making that kick, which is a whole lot better than the 0% chance that Williams gave the Cowboys by not going out of bounds.

So, you are ok with him staying inbounds, running out the clock, than giving your kicker a chance for a field goal or going for a hail mary? They also could've ran another play to get closer because if he got out, there would've been about 10 seconds left.

You and the OP are really idiots.

Of course not. It was a mistake. But pinning the loss on him is downright silly.

What's the success rate for a 64-yard FG?

Dak isn't ready for the NFL. You aren't gonna win many games w/ a rookie QB and no defense. Terrence won't change that even if he plays mistake-free FB all year.

I am not saying Dak was great, sorry for the bad choice of words. I am saying he was fine for a rookie starting his first game and was not the reason his team lost that game.

The defense played just fine. Dak played better than anyone thought. He has the stuff, he didn't do too bad with the gameplan called for a rookie in his first NFL game against a team that spent a TON of money on improving their defense and their pass rush.

My blame for the loss is shared equally by Dunbar and Williams. Lance cost us 20 seconds at the beginning of the drive and Williams cost us 10 seconds at the end.

Anyone thinking he shouldn't have gone out of bounds is an idiot. Your options are go out of bounds and have 9 seconds left and a 64 yard field goal/another play, or have the game end. At least one of them gives you a chance. :L

You realize there would have been 9-10 seconds left right? They could have ran two out routes and possibly picked up the 5-10 more yards??
Depending on where he ran out of bounds (d-back was at the sticks and angling towards the sideline), there's almost no way he gets the first down. That was a third down play. If he goes out at the 46-ish, they're looking at a 4th and 2 with 8-9 ticks left. No way they do anything other than kick the FG.

How does Dez get only one catch? He is so overrated. Can't get open and can't hold on to the ball. Had a for sure TD and can't hold on.

Because he was locked down most of the game, had a rookie QB throwing to him, and the Giants have a great pass rush. Dak stood tall in the pocket, but didn't have time to wait for Dez to get open. That's why Cole had so many targets and catches. Because it was a short route.

I'd look for Zeke to get more passes in the flat in the coming weeks.
