Sorry to go here and really hate to play devils advocate here but someone that is 90 years old is the first? I hope she is healthy otherwise, she seems it and truly a powerful person to be the first!

The reason I went here is, lets just say she passes away of natural causes in the next few months. That is fuel for the conspiracy theory wingnuts and will sadly bring a few more along for the ride thinking she died due to the vaccine.

EDIT: Yes anyone can die at anytime of anything, my point is the percentages are against her vs someone who is 40-60 years younger.

That ship has already sailed, my friend. I don't think it really matters, the anti-vaxxers are not going to take the vaccine which will just delay how fast we achieve herd immunity.

Oh, I know you are right.
I think the issue is more the "fringe" folks that might fall for it. Look at the innocent folks who fell for that plandemic video or even moved from facebook and twitter to Parlor. Even if they fall for it, for a few months, that is long enough for it to compound.

My father-in-law is 94 and is in pretty good shape (his kidneys aren't working like they used to, but he's not on dialysis or anything like that). He's rarin' to go to get that vaccine lol

Yesterday I stopped off at the Wawa and remembered why I hadn't gone inside there in weeks (it's our closest gas station). The guy behind me in line (black gentleman, early 60s) and in front of me in line (white dude, late 50s, had a mask "on" but not covering his nose and mostly not covering his mouth) started having a conversation.

Black guy: Crazy COVID, I'm not getting no vaccine so the government can put a chip inside me.
White guy: If the government wants to give me chips, they are going to get clips instead. Know what I mean?

Yeah, Dr. Seuss. We all know what you mean.

I was tempted to scream "My God you are both fucking idiots." I just bought my items quietly, left, and thought what a terribly uninformed citizenry we have in this country and how, in the long term, that causes democracies to fail. Especially when you have as little trust in experts - doctors, teachers, election officials, police officers, etc. - as we do right now.

I dont think its the fringe folks that needs to be worried about. Lost cause imo. Its the “normal” folks that make up the mass public. I posted that “power of the anecdote” story last week that shows policy makers discussed this fear

These early vaccines arent eradication vaccines (yet). Theyre going to lessen the severity of symptoms. The virus is still going to be spread. I feel “they” havent done a good enough job telling the public that social distancing and masking will still need to happen for quite a while. It has the makings of an overpromise and underdeliver sentiment too
