I feel like if you're traveling to a quarantine location, you've already failed the basic premise of quarantine.

theyre following every protocol in place by the cdn government that allows family reunification plus they havent left their house much at all.

Actually, I think that falls under non-essential travel - My mom who is 89 has been isolated in a nursing home since the lockdown and I've been reduced to phone calls (as have my immediate family members). So, while I don't condone the harassment she has faced, it's not all that surprising. Blame that orange baboon in the White House.

US - Canada border to remain "closed" until July 21st

/Of course, Americans are still arriving at the border, saying they're driving to Alaska, and then stopping at Canadian tourist destinations/restaurants etc.

Hopefully they'll smarten up and tell them to drive to Seattle and cross there and if they're found anywhere else they will be stopped and fined. I expect the border will be closed for a lot longer than July 21. Unfortunate for border businesses.

The crazy thing to me is that I believe Americans do care about others (as far as donating to charities are concerned, Americans are more generous per capita than Canadians). The whole wearing of masks debate is just lunacy to me, it has to be one of the easiest things you can do to protect other people.

I think it’s another case, like with the crazy armed protestors earlier in this nightmare, of a very small minority being given super extra attention by MSM/social media in contradiction to widespread popular belief.

Yeah, but some of the basics that Americans support with donations are taken care of by Canada. There are no "GoFundMe" to protect people from bankruptcy due medical bills up there.

Speaking also to the part you bolded from dash : Americans have always been incentivized to donate by the tax benefits of doing so. Take a guess at what happened when trumps tax reforms reduced the tax benefit of donating to charities
