The NC vaccine rollout put immunocompromised individuals in group 4, which is below some folks like grocery store workers.

Group 1 was frontline healthcare professionals and elderly care residents (no issues so far), group 2 was for seniors (OK), but then group 3 is for essential workers, which includes non-frontline healthcare, teachers, and, among others, anyone involved in the food supply chain (hence grocery workers). Immunocompromised only get in under Group 4 (assuming they haven't qualified under any of the prior).

Not a fan that we're not allowing immunocompromised (or at least severely compromised) access until so late in the process.

Oh my goodness they’re doing this based on guessing.

Hey, this is Bill Gates approved (just like releasing a new Windows version). That is, let the customers find the bugs (er COVID) and let Bill/Dr. Henry know if the vaccine (service pack) solves the issue.

The more I see stuff about Henry the less I’m convinced everybody should be listening to her.

At the very least, the stuff with schools here seems troubling. Then this.

Onion gets real again.

It's one thing to open up your businesses. There are reasonable debates as to how and when that can be done and that hurting the economy can be damaging just like the virus can be. I totally understand that. I think that's a good public debate where reasonable minds can differ.

However, removing the mask mandates (especially WHILE simultaneously loosening/eliminating business and gathering restrictions) is an asinine, heartless, and thoughtless policy promoted by only the absolute worst and dumbest leaders of this country. Wearing a mask in public saves lives, protects against long term health complications, and helps BUSINESSES by ending the pandemic sooner. Masks are proven to be effective.

Greg Abbott, the fuckface idiot, should resign. After out of office, he should be strapped to a board in public where any American can come spit in his mouth. An eye for an eye.

Maybe at CPAC next year Republicans will start telling us that red lights on roadways are tyranny. A party filled with fucking morons and the alleged "Christian" party that doesn't give a fuck about the well being of their neighbor.

Is 60,000 cases per day a threshold where you're okay to open things back up? America, let's go?

If CT was a Canadian province they’d be second in daily cases right now just behind Ontario, with 1/5th the population :noidea:

I guess Joe Biden’s gonna be calling them Neanderthals too?

Why? (not to your question but to the state of CT)

There really is no value-add to lift this right now, if a vaccine rollout will happen soon.
At least the mask mandate is still in place.

Ohio's rule is things will not fully open until new cases are below 50 per 100,000 residents for 14 days consecutively. That's completely reasonable and cases per 100K residents is the baseline that DeWine has been using for determining how to act. the higher that number, the stronger his action.

Naturally, it's going over like a lead balloon.

That's a smart data driven solution. Part of the reason COVID has been so bad in our country is that we have never been restrictive enough to get the virus to a reasonable level. If we actually did that, we could have had business a little more as normal the last year and people's jobs and lives wouldn't have suffered as much.

Picture version! Our reaction should have been this...

But it turned out much of our country reacted like this...

So, the phone line in BC is now open for people to book their vaccine appointments.
Currently serving people aged 90+

going about as well as you'd expect.
(for context, there are about 5 million people in all of BC
