There is a lot of speculation that he bolts for his home state and tax haven Texas (MAVERICKS)..

If he signs a two year deal with Dallas, he can still cash out big time when the new cap monies are gigantic.

Its a little bit diffrent now from years past where the primary team could outbid everyone with a longer term.

In some ways the shorter term deals make more sense.

Bad free throw shooting is just unacceptable. How players get away with that is beyond me. I could walk up to the line right now and shoot better than he does. He's a fucking professional, get in the gym everyday and practice. No way I am paying a max contract to a guy who shoots under 40% from the line in the playoffs. That's just free points given away.

Not only does it make him look bad but it hurts his team.

Problem is the Clips almost have to sign him b/c of their cap situation. Doc Rivers has been a real shitty GM. They don't have depth and don't have the cash to pick any up.

They should write it into his contract. If he averages >65% from the free throw line for a season he gets a big bonus.

I read somewhere in an article that the average FT% in the NBA is 75... and the average FT% in overseas professional leagues is 72%.

The average salary in the NBAis 200x what it is overseas... and yet their free throw shooting is only 3 percentage points better.

Dwain Price: DeAndre Jordan becomes a FA on July 1 and can make $108.3 mill over 5 yrs with the #Clippers, or $80.7 mill over 4 yrs with other teams. If DeAndre Jordan decides to sign a FA contract with the #Mavs, they have an excellent FT shooting coach in Gary Boren who can help him. Rajon Rondo's FT% this season went from 33.3% in 22 games with the #Celtics to 45.2% in 46 games with the #Mavs. It was an improvement.

Report: DeAndre Jordan feuded with Chris Paul over how much he practiced free throws, and it could affect his free agency - Yahoo Finance

I find this interesting. I don't know how Jordan can defend himself in this feud though. I bet the Clippers resign him to the max, but I wouldn't give the max to a guy who shoots free throws so terribly and really isn't an offensive force ala shaq.

Unfortunately, talented 7 foot centers who are good both offensively and defensively are rare these days

As a Clips fan do you want to see them keep DAJ (not that you have a choice really)

Yes.

As bad as the Clippers are defensively, can you imagine how much worse they would be w/out Jordan?

I love Blake. But, the fact that he doesn't snatch 10 rpg or average 1 block per game is ridiculous.

Bigs are routinely overpaid. So, I'm okay with them giving him the max.

Besides, even if he walks, they don't have the cap to find a replacement.
