“Experts” have been downplaying Washington’s schedule all year. But if Washington takes care of Colorado next week they will finish 12-1 in a power conference with a 4-1 record against ranked teams/teams over .500

Yet, the talk still revolves around the possibility of a 2 loss Wisconsin or Penn State team leap frogging Washington to take the #4 spot in the CFB playoff rankings.

This is unprecedented. A dominant 1 loss Pac-12 (or Pac-10) team has never finished outside of the top 4 in the CFB rankings or AP Top 25. Matter fact, in 2010 both Oregon and Stanford finished 12-1 and were ranked #3 and #4 despite the Pac-10 not having a single team ranked in the top 25 besides Oregon and Stanford.

Stanford didn't beat a single ranked team that year and Oregon's lone quality win was against Stanford.

So what's the difference with Washington?

Name brand and prestige. I guarantee you if USC had the exact same success with the exact same schedule, they'd be a lock for #2 or #3 without anyone questioning it.

Now let's look at resumes.

Washington has faced 4 teams over .500

Both Penn State and Wisconsin have faced 2 more quality teams (over .500) on their schedule, but Washington has performed better against those quality teams outscoring those teams by an average score of 33-18. Penn State’s average score against teams over .500 is 29-29 and Wisconsin’s average score is 19-17.

If anything, Michigan is the 2 loss team most deserving of playoff consideration. They’ve beaten 3 top 10 teams including both Penn State AND Wisconsin.

Forgot to list Oklahoma. They have an outside shot. Would need a lot of help though. But you never know with CFB especially after that week where #2, #3, and #4 all lost.

Only thing is though, there are only so many scenarios that can play out next week.

You're actually gonna be .500 against ranked teams. Standford just barely climbed back into the rankings. The Colorado team that won the Pac South hasn't even beaten a ranked team.. plus got killed by Michigan. This is why the 'experts' aren't giving you guys any love.

Since when was Colorado killed by Michigan? I remember Michigan being on upset alert until Liufau went down.

Ok, but getting the win and having the final score be 45-28 is all that matters.

The Buffs beat a ranked Washington State team last week & beat a ranked Utah team last night.

Yes, but you still look like a jackass if you claim they killed them. To anyone who actually remembers the game and isn't just looking at the score, anyway...

Seriously, just throw Michigan the fuck out of the discussion all together. They lost to Iowa for fucks sake, and now they have two losses and have no chance of winning their conference. I don't care what the rest of their resume looks like, they couldn't get their shit done.

Hey congrats to Penn State. Hope your team takes care of Wisky in the BigTen CCG.
They are easily the weakest of these teams. I hope Washington wins out and Wisconsin wins. And I am almost sure Wisconsin will take care of business.
