The Heisman is a 1 year award. Not a career achievement. Back in the day freshman did not start. That is why only 2 freshmen have ever won it.

I grew up in L.A. and I can assure you there is racism. It's not as overt as in the south but it exists. And I don't mean just by whites. I grew up around mainly Mexicans and Asians, some blacks and some whites. I remember two Mexicans got into a fight and a bunch of other kids (mostly Mexicans) started chanting, "a fight, a fight, a n***** and a white, if the white don't win then we all jump in."
