Those were the big takeaways from the workout. Here are a few leftover notes from Detroit's eighth OTA (out of 10):

  • The offense looked much better than it did the past two weeks, despite missing Golden Tate, Kris Durham and Joseph Fauria. Calvin Johnson also did not participate during team drills. Still, Matthew Stafford managed to look sharper in his throws and decision-making, though he was nearly picked off once.
  • Kevin Ogletree, Jeremy Ross and Corey Fuller were used as the starting receivers.
  • Corey Fuller was the big standout of the day. He hauled in two really nice catches that were away from his body, one of which came while tip-toeing along the sideline. He got more run due to all the injuries at receiver, and looked good. He'll be fighting for that final roster spot at receiver, and today was a step in the right direction.
  • Linebacker DeAndre Levy left the field briefly to get his left foot taped. He did not return to practice, though did watch from the sideline and appeared to be walking normally after practice, good signs that his injury is minor.
  • With James Ihedigbo sitting out practice, safety DeJon Gomes was repping alongside Glover Quin with the first unit.
  • Calvin Johnson struggled with drops two weeks ago, and Golden Tate did the same last week. Today it was Eric Ebron who struggled to hang onto the football, dropping at least one during individual drills with position coach Ron Prince, then later dropping an easy 5-yarder from Dan Orlovsky during team drills. It's too early to be concerned about drops, though it's worth noting that Ebron struggled with them throughout his time at North Carolina.

So our formally sure handed superstar WR continues his issue with drops. The guy we paid a ton of $ to for his great hands comes to Detroit and now he has an issue with drops, and the guy who already had an issue with drops continues that trend after we made him a top 10 pick. Ok. That sounds about right.

Well if everyone is dropping balls then maybe it has less to do with the receivers and more to do with the guy throwing the ball. Stafford can get all his mechanics and footwork strightened out and will still throw the most difficult ball to catch in the league. He still has no touch.

If Megatron is dropping them there is no hope for anyone else. Our O-line and defense looks good.

From the sounds of it -- they are going against an offense that doesn't have anyone that can catch the ball.

I sure hope that changes once the season rolls around.

So you'd rather have our defense going against offenses all season that don't drop many balls? :wtf2:

I'd love to play teams all season who can't catch... that'd be awesome.

On a hunch, and only a hunch. IMO he is speaking of the offense dropping balls....:noidea:

Interesting, wonder if it could have anything do with the guy throwing the passes?

"(Quarterback coach) Jim Bob (Cooter) is working with him a lot, doing a lot of footwork drills and progression drills," Lombardi said. "Like most quarterbacks, when his feet are right, the passes are usually right."

Lombardi has been pleased with how well Stafford understands where his feet need to be when making the various throws.

"He's still learning a little bit of that, but he's grasping it pretty quickly," Lombardi said.

From June 3rd, Freep report:

■ Austin and others have touted the versatility of the Lions’ new defense, and that has been evident throughout OTAs this spring. Again today, the Lions moved their front seven players all over the field, blitzed linebackers and dropped defensive linemen into coverage.

■ Linebacker DeAndre Levy left midway through practice to get his left foot taped. The injury did not appear to be series, and he was walking fine after practice but he did not return to action. Ashlee Palmer joined Stephen Tulloch on the field in nickel packages with the first-team defense, and Travis Lewis took Levy’s spot with the base defense.

■ Offensively, the Lions had a better a day overall than in either of the first two OTAs open to the media. Corey Fuller made a nice catch against DeJon Gomes on the right sideline on a perfectly thrown pass from Matthew Stafford.

■ Stafford did throw one near-interception in 11-on-11 play. Bill Bentley had a nice pass breakup on a Dan Orlovsky throw to Naaman Roosevelt in 7-on-7. And Tulloch just missed a pick when he dived to deflect a Kellen Moore pass near midfield.

■ It’s clear that Theo Riddick is going to have a role on the team this fall. Riddick seems secure in his spot on special teams — he plays key positions on both punt cover and kickoff return — and he continues to catch the ball nicely out of the backfield on offense.

Van Noy, who’s expected to start at outside linebacker this year, will be away from the team this weekend, when he weds his longtime girlfriend, former Miss Utah Marissa Powell.

She's smoking hot, but her belly button looks too close to her ta-tas but then again maybe that's where it was suppose to be or bad airbrushing.

Or maybe she has a long torso? She seems like a tall chick.

If I found a imperfection on her with the belly button, you can only imagine the imperfection our Lions have.

That's who I am....I want perfection in the Lions. I know it doesn't exist but the one's that stop trying have already loss.

Sure, why not.....All girls belly buttons are there or maybe you think that photo is real.

Like I said, she's smoking hot, just didn't care for the position of the belly button.....I guess you believe the ta-tas are real too?

I want a real woman not some airbrushed plastic doll......

Yeah, that thing is really high up there. She's also boney. But Kyle can take her skinny ass out to dinner now. Kid signed his contract.
