Apparently its for another conditional draft pick. :lame:

I guess it depends on the conditions.

I'm pretty surprised by this. I know we only kept 3 OLB's last year, but I felt like 5 contributors this year was going to look nice.

If you pick a young guy with a 7th round pick, develop him for 1-2 years, then trade him for a 7th, it does not make any sense.

Plus it leaves us thin again with 3 legit OLBs: Smith, Brooks, Lemonier. Skuta could fill in but I wouldn't want him getting any significant time there.

Yeah I agree, but we got to see what the conditions of the pick are going to be. Maybe if he gets starting time we will get a higher draft pick. Probably contingent on playing time.

I'm pretty pissed about this trade. Not as if Cam would have lit up the world, but to draft a guy in the 7th, take two years to mold him into the disruptive presence he seemed to be this preseason and you don't keep him despite being a 4th OLB? That is a perfect position for a guy you want to continue to see develop. And if it isn't for something decent, then idk wtf Baalke is thinking here. Obviously he has forgotten more about football then I know, but at face value, this sucks out loud!

I don't have much confidence in his ability to get to the QB consistently.

If this was a roster dump to make room for Harper, I'm going to be pissed when we have Ventrone and Stupar still on the 53.

This is strange. We should of kept Cooper if we were going to trade Johnson.

They probably wanted to a roster spot. They might be really interested in someone. Hmm.

For a positive spin, all these picks are going to make the 2014 draft real interesting. I imagine we are once again going to be wheeling and dealing on draft day. 13 picks is almost assured at this point, with the possibility for 14 depending on how the comp picks shake out.

I guess they have enough confidence in Lemonier, but if any injuries occur this could back to bite us in the ass. He had way too much upside to deal him for a 7th.

Not upset about a 7th rounder who has had injuries in the past and coming off a shoulder injury in a position that the 9ers have significant depth. Albeit that depth has taken a hit over the last couple of weeks. We have a 4th round WR from a team with depth at that position and a 7th rounder from a team like the colts. This is how you restock your team year after year and stay relevant. Blake has drafted well considering 2012 and has found gems in late rounders, undrafted players which have contributed to our success. I wish CJ the best and hope that Harper brings us some of what we may lose in Crabs in the future. We need to think short term and long term with our additions and subtractions. It is tough but a successful take considering we may have exposed other talent are more significant positions without depth. In a pinch moody, wilhoite could move outside with Skuta.

They can be useful to jump up a few spots in the later rounds and actually Baalke has been pretty good with 7th rounders and UDFA so they are actually useful for us.

Yeah Skuta was getting man handled against 2's it wasn't until the 3's he started making plays

He was a 7th round pick that was traded for a conditional 7th, because we had no room for him. No loss, no gain.

We should just wish him the best, because while we all liked him as fans, he wasn't going to be given the chance to shine on this team, unless multiple OLB's got hurt. Now he actually has a chance to see the field in Indianapolis.
