I think a first 2 second and 2 3rds and 4 7ths would get the pick. That would go a long way to rebuilding a team that sucks so bad they are dead last. So much more than a pass rusher sack machine.

Then the 49ers could go to a 4-3 line with it being

Clowney Caridine Williams A Smith

Lemonier Willis Bowman

The offensive line would never know what was coming and who to block. Sack City

Ditka gave up all his draft picks (1999 draft) plus an additional 1st and 3rd in the following draft to get Ricky Williams.

That is a lot to give up.

What about Crabtree, a couple of 1st (one of those is a future 1st rd. pick) and 2nd round picks (come on Alex!), and a 3rd round pick?

Would that be enough? Going to look up the Ricky Williams trade....

Doubtful the Raiders would go for it. :)

According to the trade value chart, the 1st pick overall is worth 3000 points. The 32nd pick is worth 950. A future 1st is worth less, and the Niners' 2 2nds would be worth around 600-640 or so. Crabtree's trade value will be pretty low coming off anchilles tendon injury, so let's just say he's the equivalet 3rd rounder for the last 2 years of his contract. That's not much more than 2/3 of the way there.

But the fact remains that the trade value chart is a rough estimate. Sometimes the 1st pick is worth a little (like this year), and sometimes it's worth a ton (like 2014). So I'd say that wouldn't even be close to enough to move up to the 1st pick overall. In terms of a number, the 1st pick is probably closer to 4500-5000 than 3000 this year. JMHO.

I think getting Clowney is a pipedream unless you already own a top 5 or 6 pick to bargain with to get to #1...

But speaking of incredible D-lineman, how do you think Will Sutton would look as a 3-4 DE?

Pretty much an entire draft with some elite players (as you said earlier, Willis...etc.)

I agree with AC, no one is moving up from outside the top 5 for Clowney. Teams aren't going to trade a difference maker for a late first round pick and a bunch of guys that won't be on the team when they're good.

A difference maker DE is not worth 4500pts..sorry difference of opinion here ...a difference maker franchise QB however maybe...in any case Walters has Clowney going #2or#3, instead of inflating the value chart to 4500 lets just stay at the 3K level and work from there. And not to jinx him or anything, but, he still has to make it thru the season uninjured to maintain that value whatever stratospheric value that might be.

Absolutely. Plus, the Niners need to address other areas of concern next year (CB's to replace Rogers/Asomugha, a S to replace Whitner or perhaps takeover for Reid at FS if Reid is found to be deficient in pass coverage skills, wideouts to replace Boldin/Manningham, etc) and add to the depth on their OL. The Niners are building this team the right way, there is no need to do otherwise and risk your depth, and your future, for just one player.

Besides the occasional burst off the line in pass rushing situations, what else did Cam do well? Where did he grade out in all other aspects of playing OLB?
