Call for new Hockey Forum mod

With the disappearance of Postmaster and the less frequent activity of Tox and SFNL, it has become apparent that the mod pool for this forum is getting kind of thin. Instead of making the decision internally, we thought we'd ask the group how we should proceed with selecting another mod. Here are what we have discussed so far:

1. Create a public nominations thread where users can be nominated and/or volunteer. Whittle that down by consensus to a list of 3 candidates, and then hold a vote by PM.

2. Existing mods decide on the candidates, communicate the choices to the group, and then hold a vote by PM.

3. Existing mods just appoint someone they trust, subject to them accepting the role.

4. Any other ideas from the group?

EDIT: Just wanted to make it clear that no existing mod is stepping down, just that we thought it would be helpful to add to the mod pool.

Just a friendly request, please keep this thread on topic. Meandering OT posts in this thread will be deleted.

If you seriously want to be considered for the job, quote this part of the post and let us know. I will keep a list of all who are interested in the first post. Then we'll decide how to go from there.

Nah, I mean, I'd still be my usual self, but if I were given those reigns, I would monitor the boards properly. I'm really just throwing it out there because I am here literally every day for at least 8-10 hours constantly checking in. lol, ahh gotta love a flexible job.

Any of those options work for me, Dare. I prefer 1 and 2 to 3, of course, for reasons of transparency, but I do trust your judgements as mods, so 3 wouldn't bother me, either.

I think any of those seem fine. We trust you guys will pick a good process and/or a good person to be the mod.

If you guys do decide to to put it to a vote, the Hookies are just around the corner and I could easily add it to the list of categories to save you guys the trouble. Plus, I'm not eligible for Hookie votes, so no worries about people voting for me to be a mod. Win-Win.

Oh, and for the record, I think #2 makes the most sense. Since you guys know the job, you know who would be good at it and who wouldn't, which puts forward good candidates. But then it's inclusive (and a little fun) to see who the masses vote for.

I like 1 and 2 because theres a chance I'd be up for vote.... The NHL is pushing for more black players...so we should push for more black mods!
