I forgot to mention, anyone who is interested in applying for the mod position must list the names and IP addresses of all sites you are or have previously moderated, a portfolio of previous successful moderator decisions made, and at least 3 references from users you have banned.

I agree with this. Putting into the public could cause unnecessary drama. If the person they want says no, only the current mods and that person need to know.

I can't believe many have already thrown their hats in the ring so to speak. I'd at least like to know more about the position - what is the pay, benefits, hours, vacation policy, etc. before I'd consider. I don't want some stupid 1099 come tax season to arrive and screw up my plans.

I think maybe I navigated away by accident, but it said basically...
-I think we are a mature enough board to vote on who we think would be a good mod, not just popularity
-I think Ritari would make a great mod (no idea if he is interested) and already does many "mod-like" things during arguments
-I would make a terrible, terrible mod

TBH, I don't even really know who the mods are here; that's a good thing.

I honestly think the best thing to do is for the mods to get together and pick some guy behind closed doors who they can agree on will represent the site the best.

Which is weird, because eloco's usually wrong.
