Agreed, I love and hate stats, because as you can see by this one people get to pick and choose the one that they like while ignoring the ones that they hate. For me the stats that I really take note of are those that ultimately determine wins and loses, but nobody wants to talk about those.

Actually I did bring that stat up and said "I defy anyone to tell me Sonny Jurgensen wasn't any good." I think you, ehb and I all agree that stats are a tool but do not give a full measure of a player. They can certainly point you in the right direction though.

If KC is on record as saying that he "doesnt need to suck out every dollar," then $24 million a year is not an acceptable figure. Romo, Flacco, and Carson Palmer are the only qb's projected to make $24million next year.

2017 Quarterback Contracts and Salaries | Over The Cap

Romo signed that deal last century and it has grown a life of its own. Flacco's deal is only two years younger than Romo's. At the end of the day you either pay him market value, or realize that if he plays on the tag he is gone next year. You can hemm and haw over the price tag, but it is what it is.

@deanpet21 The Media reports rumors. Half of them they make up for click bait.

Not sure what more Russell Wilson needs to do to prove that his in fact a good QB. Again I never said you had to have Tom Brady, just that you can't have a middle of the road guy and expect great things year after year.

Of course he is going to want 24M per year. I just hope the media reports all the offers b/c its going to get crazy.

Who gives a crap about all of the offers? All that matters is if he signs & for how much. Do you somehow need to have a front row seat to the negotiations?

dean either come up with a quote from a poster who wrote down "give him a blank check " or move on from it

because the only one who mentioned a blank check is you and you only

OK - most/all of those examples that you cited were for teams with elite defenses. I am not holding my breath for the Redskins to be in that category in the next few years (regardless of trades, picks, etc). However - with a solid QB you can get by with a less than stellar defense.

well those are 2 very different things now arent they ? look "luck money " is about to be obsolete just as future "KC" money will be

so many people wanted KC to prove his numbers were for real . they were, time to pay up . that was the risk taken by both parties

This was the last paragraph from the Kiem article.

You don't just pay Cousins whatever he wants; you pay the going rate and make a smart deal for both sides. If it's not to your liking, then you move on. But the Redskins keep saying the right things. We'll find out in the next month or so how much they really mean it.

Gee, I wonder who said that on here?
Uh, maybe all of us?

Why? Why do you care what all of the offers are? What difference does it make?

You know what amazes me, dean? That KC is going to as for more money than Joe Montana was ever paid. Isn't that insane? I mean, montana was arguably the best QB ever. Where does KC come off asking for more than him. I say cut him.

It's fun to see what KC will counter after SM's initial offer. If we get to see them.

Can you be a bit more clear on what you mean when you use the word "compete" here. At the beginning of every season there are 32 teams competing for a SB. At the end of the regular season there are 12 teams still competing for the SB. At the end of the playoffs there are 2 teams competing for a SB. So based on what you've written, at which stage does a KC led team stop competing?

Some people might take this as some sort of joke, but I'm deadly serious here. It is a very serious thing to me when someone says that our QB is qualified to compete for a SB, and not win one.
