Mayfield had a fully guaranteed 1-year $18M+ contract. Cutting him wasn't an option. There was no good reason for Mayfield to take a $3M pay cut so he could be put in the worst possible playing situation. If the Browns were willing to pay $10M to move him he should have forced them to pay the full $13M. If they refused he should have sat on the Browns bench.
I believe he made a bad decision, but it was his decision to make, not mine.

I'm not sure how he could have forced the Browns to retain him and pay out more money in the process. They wanted him gone to avoid a QB controversy.I can see why Baker didn't want to stay, he wanted the chance to start and rebuild his reputation in the process. With Sam Darnold as his competition that sounded like a good spot for him at the time.
