So some Browns players are mad at the fans for booing Watson.

Winston who is no stranger to sexual assualt, QB Jameis Winston on fans booing Deshaun Watson: “I am very upset with the reaction to a man that has had the world against him for the past four years. He put his life on the line for THIS city."

DE Myles Garrett on fans booing Deshaun Watson after his injury: “No one deserves that. I've seen him work his a** off... Man does pretty much everything right. He’s been a model citizen through college and also the pros."

You didn’t use the exact words Garrett said, “most of the pros”. He said that for a reason.

A lot of people who were at the game said only a few booed. It is a complete overreaction beefed up by the media.

Does Haslem go to owner's meetings anymore? Maybe it's safe since it's just the billionaire boys and girls club, but this guy allowed the decimation of the quarterback pay scale that every team is now stuck under. You would think he has a target on his back. Nobody is going to approve any moves to allow Cleveland to dig themselves out of this cap hell they put themselves into.

As far as the 2025 and 2026 145 million cap hit,

$58.1M of 2024/2025 compensation is insured per Sportrac

Correct ..without that misdirection, all there is to talk about is if the Watson trade makes it into the top 3 worst trades in Pro Sports History.

Cleveland is a complete dumpster fire.

House cleaning is going to happen...again. It's the only way...even if they're in cap hell because Watson's contract will put them there.
Hope not since before this year the coach and FO have done a good job. Luckily -and I don't mean you here - this FO does not care what fans or the media think. A change could certainly backfire.

unfortunately we can't fire the haslams, who really made the watson deal
They really didn't.....had to be talked into it by the FO. But sure.

and why fire an owner (not that we could) who does what fans should want from an owner? IF he has a FO he trusts he lets them do their jobs and writes the checks when asked.

Well considering he just got extended before the season...I mean does that makes sense to you?

Andrew Berry made the trade for Watson and guess what??? He got extended in the offseason too.

So I think they have at least a season. If Watson goes the full year playing like shit...then maybe one gets fired but I am still doubting that. The only way I see something drastic happening is if Watson says he quits or wants traded. I dont think it will happen bc he has all this guaranteed money and I think he is just fine with all that unearned money.

He will be a Cleveland Brown through 2026. There is nothing to discuss there. Like I said maybe if they are absolutely awful one or both gets fired but they literally just got extended. I hope it happens but it is not likely.
Obviously the Watson injury changes some things in your comments, but as a longtime Browns fan you really want to try for a new coach/GM combo? You get we could do a lot worse, right? Also, if you dump both you pretty much do have Haslam making the call on one or both replacements (unlike the made up things some think Haslam did).

In sports.....COY and extensions are the proverbial kiss of death. It's a what have you done for me lately League.....

These owners have billions. And are not typically patient.
That can be true....but in this case Haslam would likely be the one making the decision on the replacements (unlike the decisions he did not make some claim he did). Not sure why any Browns fan would want to see that (get you are not one).

sure this is accurate? Thinking these were the answers they gave when asked about fans CHEERING his injury. No excuse for that.

1) Haslams have a reputation for meddling
2) No owner is going to allow a FO to pursue a predator like Watson without their blessing
3) No front office would send the picks and give the guaranteed contract that was given to Watson

I really think it was a Haslam move not Berry. Berry has made the correct decisions elsewhere; I trust him for the most part.

1) Yeah they did in the past. But they learned their lesson and seem not to anymore.
2) sure they gave their blessing. Hence my saying "they had to be talked into it".
3) This one did, though, yes, with approval by Haslam.

FYI, the guaranteed deal - while a complete disaster now - was way overblown. Never mind they did not make the deal thinking he would suck (I mean, at least a dozen teams badly wanted him). Reason overblown is IF he played as hoped he'd be underpaid and we'd be glad to pay it. If he did not we were screwed whether 100% guaranteed or "only" 75-80% or so guaranteed.

It was the FO, Not Berry. Pretty sure it was either Pluto or Jason Lloyd who said Haslam liked Baker and had to be talked into it.
