didnt he have a suspension, then next year pretty much an injury year.
All the while dealing with major mind fucking of going to prison?
If I am remember him correctly of hardly ever actually playing while sitting on a couch. Kinda like coming back from retirement. LOL
I wouldnt have guessed him being this bad, but I would have predicted he wasnt gonna be as good anymore.

Hasnt he missed more games than he has played since signing his deal?

I mean there's bad, and then there is historically bad like Deshaun has been this year.

I'm not going to sugar coat it. Top 10 worst contract in sports history.

The throwing downfield is the key. I don't know what the fuck Watsons deal became but he almost never went vertical.

15 for 17 and like 3 points last week against Cincy.
and think only had 1-2 incompletions in 2nd half vs. Philly.....also couldn't score TDs.

The way Winston was flinging it all over I just think Watson is mentally not there. His field vision has to be absolute shit. Like I said before, he had it at one point in his career. You can’t put up those numbers being a one read QB. Those years out of football and mentally instability has to be the issues. His athleticism isn’t same of course.
It is too bad they wasted a portion of the season but I guess the coaches had no choice. You pay a guy that much you expect him to play and hopefully improve. We only saw glimpses from Watson. Sometimes an entire half but the results still didn’t add up.
Winston did get lucky on some dropped picks I will say but Lamar had just as many in that game.
Their season is still likely over but I am just glad they actually have a leader and the team actually feels like a team. A lot of fight, the mood was off most times with Watson.

Totally agree with this.....the narrative another coach gets him out sooner is false IMO for reasons you gave. Had to know for sure. Only question regarding those years away is the guy played pretty well last season so I wonder what happened. Still not recovered? Maybe the O that was supposed to be best for him really wasn't? Latter might be true as does not seem this choice route concept we were using is something in which he could excel. Sadly, his issue is he cannot make quick decisions/choices.

You can only blame scheme so much when you're talking about some of the worst qb play of the last generation

Russell Wilson deal for Denver is up there considering they are already paying him $50 mil to play for the Steelers.
Yeah but after that they’re done, Cleveland has to keep paying Watson no matter what.

My God that last one that could have been an INT could not have been thrown to him any better if he was the WR. Wasn't even some bullet and was just floated in there perfectly.

I mean, same as Denver...only for a couple more years after this one.
But that's still killing their cap though. Denver has $72 million is cap space next year meaning the Russ trade didn’t cripple the franchise.

Cleveland has -$39 million(only the Saints are worse) so while the Russ contract was bad it’s not negatively affecting them as much as people thought.

Browns have to take the full hit next year and then cut his ass and spread the remainder over 2 years. Would net them 22 million more for 26.

Signing that ass hat to a guaranteed deal...ugh.

Denver has all that cap space as they made the move without having a roster ready to compete with a good QB. Honestly, I don't know why they dumped him so soon (unless not liked in locker room?) as he was OK there. Might be OK with Nix.

The move hurts the Browns more as we could have been really good (and still can be) with a good QB. Denver needs a lot more to be really good.

Denver is already better this year than they were last year with Russ no matter how he rest of the year plays out. They ripped the band-aid off because it’s better to do that this year than when they really need that cap space.

no doubt about that but Browns and Denver were obviously looking at things differently with us coming off 11-6 season.

One thing I do wonder is why we didn't just pay DW his salary for this season as opposed to restructuring since we had the room. But one area I trust Berry and this FO is handling the cap.
